Boredom Busters

Not being in school, means being in a rut! Being busy about something is always better than being busy doing nothing. I actually miss the feeling of being swamped with academic stuff. I miss whining about it, I should say. Just staying at home doing the same thing over and over again is beginning to kill me. I need to have some fish to fry. In other words, I'm dying to be employed. It really is true that human beings never get satisfied with what they have, where they are and whatnot. I'm cringing, cause I'm guilty as sin.

You see, I have this place all for myself every weekdays from 8am to 5pm. Aside from trying so hard to revise my thesis manuscript, all I do is just surf the web, download/watch movies and TV series, listen to my music library, think of what to cook for lunch, work on my household assignment, stare at oblivion, and worry about my safety. I'm like a slob! Those activities may not be exhausting, but they're unproductive. But anyhow, now I'll be sharing again the things that bust the boredom out of my system.

In other news, I had a great day yesterday with my buddies. Hollers out to Ate Jael, Maicie, Christine, Ed Ralph, Ate Cyndi and Ella. I enjoyed some serious and mature conversation I had with Ate Jael and Ed Ralph. The dinner was also fantastic with all the hearty laughs and inane talks. I'm so glad I got to be close to these crazy and fun guys before I left UP. When my batchmates graduated, I promised to myself that I will be a full-fledged anti-social creature. However, they came into my life and saved me from solitude. That sounds so melodramatic, but it's really what I feel for them. I'm looking forward to be with them in the year-ender gathering we're planning to hold in Samal this 11th of December. I hope Mom allows me to have a sleepover somewhere this time.

Devouring Movies and TV Series

Apart from my Mom's scrumptious and delectable home-made goodness, I've been devouring a lot of movies and TV series these past few days, and that's because I'm no longer that stressed with school. What a relief that I can do what I love to do from now on. I only have thesis (due on November 10, 2011) to think about, and guess what, I don't want to talk about it. It's perfectly a colossal waste of time. I mentioned before that I'm not a movie/series buff, but I'm taking that back now. I am now a full-fledged couch potato. How 'bout that? The following productions are so cool, they don't bore me:

LIFE AS WE KNOW IT
Two single adults become caregivers to an orphaned girl when their mutual best friends die in an accident.

WHEN IN ROME
Beth is a young, ambitious New Yorker who is completely unlucky in love. However, on a whirlwind trip to Rome, she impulsively steals some coins from a reputed fountain of love, and is then aggressively pursued by a band of suitors.

May I just add that Josh Duhamel is my new ULTIMATE HOLLYWOOD CRUSH alongside, Channing Tatum, Ian Harding, Nicholas D'Agosto and Milo Ventimiglia. I so love him in Life As We Know It. Aside from the fact that he's too-hot-I-can't-handle-him in that film, I also dig the story. Katherine Heighl and him make a really cute couple. I love that Holly and Eric's story began with friendship, and that they weren't in a whirlwind romance unlike other chick flicks I've watched. Another thing I love about it is that it's almost a two-hour film, which means his exposure is quite long!

Must-Watch Asian Films

3 IDIOTS: As I searched about this Bollywood movie I found out that it was actually adapted from the novel Five Point Someone by Chetan Bhagat.

MIND GAME: It is about the struggling comic artist Robin Nishi in his adventure with his object of affection Myon and her sister, Yan.

In the Realm of Senses: This is a true story of a Japanese woman called Sada Abe.

The Joy Luck Club: Through a series of flashbacks, four young Chinese women born in America and their respective mothers born in feudal China, explore their past.

"Nanking" tells the story of the rape of Nanking, one of the most tragic events in history.

Memoirs of a Geisha: Nitta Sayuri reveals how she transcended her fishing-village roots and became one of Japan's most celebrated geisha.

Samsara: A spiritual and sensual film which centers on the desire and destiny of a man of sacred mental disciplines who is struggling to attain enlightenment by renouncing mundane aspirations and yearning.

Chronicles of the Harry Potter Fever

Would you still be surprised if I say, the 7th and last installment of the Harry Potter saga is a trending topic all over the world? Of course, you wouldn't. Am I correct or I am correct? I believe it's nonsense mentioning it, because HP has been a household subject for almost nine long years already. Both fanatics and detractors can attest to its magical fame and glory that caused mass hysteria every time. All got smitten to how the story of the boy-who-lived unfolds. Harry Potter has indeed cast a spell on the whole world with more than 250 million books sold in more than 200 countries worldwide.

Almost every soul in the entire globe got totally Potter-crazed. By that I mean for an instance, the HP mania has caused those enthusiasts to throw around words like "muggles", "mudblood", "quidditch" and whatnot. This bewitching craze has always been a little out of control, and that's a clear fact. Die-hard fans got so frantic in familiarizing every single detail about the life of Ron, Hermione, Harry and all the other characters of the story. I, for one, became a fan but sad to say, my fondness for it got out of my system. It had already died a natural death, or maybe it's just on hiatus. I don't know. It's quite ironic, because my ring tone is still the Harry Potter theme.

Most of the world are suckers for HP, while I'm slowly becoming not. I'm not alone, and I'm quite sure about that. Tons of people experience having incredibly anti-social moments whenever they get to read HP books. How come I'm not as addicted as them? Maybe the HP magic got nullified with the state of mind I have. Kidding aside! On a serious note, if I were to evaluate myself as a fan I would say I'm just below average. With my insufficient knowledge on the story, I can conclude that I will never pass for an HP geek. I haven't even hit its books yet. Well, I've read a few pages from the Sorcerer's Stone, but still, that won't ever make me a full-fledged advocate.

For a few moments, let me go back in time when I was still diagnosed of Harry Potter fever. Sit back, relax and REWINDIO! Absurd, I've found a chance to show off what little I know about the Hogwarts' spells. Okay, let's cut that out. I only rely my narrow range of supernatural information from the motion pictures. I know that's just quite lame of me. I don't want to sound as if I'm baffled about that, so let me get this straight. I really don't have great aspirations of becoming a part of the hugely rabid HP fans club. That way, I save myself from unnecessary obsession.

Did I just sound like I'm sour graping? My apologies for that. I don't want to come off as if I'm high-minded or something. I guess I'm bitter because I used to keep up with my friends who are so into HP. I used to be at par with them with the advent of the Internet. I used to know a lot of character names, and terms in the book/movie, but now I can barely remember everything. But that's not a big deal for me, because going to great lengths just to arm myself with all the HP trivia isn't everything to me. Although I have to admit that I once collected things that are related to HP, like pictures and quotable quotes from the movie and the book.



I've had a dose of this saga until Order of the Phoenix already, which I got to watch in the special screening done by the Order of De Molay Davao Chapter last 2007. My liking for HP has also ended there. My brain got all mixed up with the flow of the story. I got bored as a result. I lost my interest simply because I lost track of the important details of the story. There, I said it for honesty's sake. I don't want to watch it again and again let alone reading all those HP books just to fully grasp everything.

Harry Potter has just come to its finality, yet the undying support of the people who have grown to love it still remains. I may think for now that its fame is getting overrated, but I'm hoping that the thought of it won't linger long enough on my mind. I believe my pessimistic stand towards HP is just due to the fact that I've missed out a lot. I have a feeling that the former HP fan in me will get back on track once I get the chance to re-run the saga. I have to admit that I still have the desire to know how it'll all end, but I'm just trying not to let it show.

Daisy

A cop. A criminal. A flower.

Daisy is a 2006 co-production film of Hong Kong and South Korea directed by Andrew Lau and set in the Netherlands which top bills  Jeon Ji Hyun (My Sassy Girl), Jung Woo Sung (A Moment to Remember) and Lee Sung Jae (Public Enemy). Hye Young (Ji Hyun) is a painter who works for her grandfather's antique shop. She also sidelines as a sketch artist for tourists. She fell in love with Jeong Woo (Sung Jae), who is an Interpol agent specializing in Asian crimes, after mistakenly thinking of him as the guy who sends her daisies everyday at exactly 4:15pm. Jeong Woo couldn't admit that he's actually not her daisy guy or even lie to her, so he chose to be silent instead. Park Yi (Woo Sung) is a professional hitman who has had a secret love towards Hye Young ever since he first saw her painting daisies in the countryside. He was the real daisy guy, and not Jeong Woo. According to this film, daisies mean "secret love". Sweet!

This is another great romantic Korean film I've watched, despite some reviews saying that this flick has some flaws. I'm not that much of a hater, unless it's really that bad. I'm also not a good movie critic so I don't have the right to find fault for this well-made movie. I don't know what's with Korean films that make me cry and stuff. Maybe it's because of their melodramatic and sentimental story line that is way different from others. I especially love the music and the setting of Daisies. I love the part when Park Yi (hitman) told himself that loving Hye Young makes him feel like he has a pure soul. He's a soulful lover despite his wicked profession. He always stands by her from afar and unnoticed. He has also learned to like art and classical music because of her. One may think he's a stalker, but I think he's just too sweet to be called as such. How I wish a man like him would exist in reality. I don't know what to feel if I were in Hye Young's shoes.

I strongly believe that Guns and Roses got their concept from Daisies. They have similarity on some details. Park Yi receives black tulips when he has another assignment, while Abel (Robin Padilla) receives black dove. Jeong Woo and Aguilar (Diether Ocampo) are both detectives on a hunt for the hired killer. Hye Young and Rain (Bea Alonzo) are painters. Abel also has a secret love for Rain. I also think that Guns and Roses got the color effects of their show on this movie. I don't want to think that this is another rip-off. It's just that I can't help but notice it. Watch this film and you will see the evidence. You will love Daisies for sure.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules

I just watched this fun movie adaptation with my sisters yesterday, and I had definitely a good laugh. Greg's wit, and Rodrick's pranks made the film so hilarious. It's indeed a great comedy film for the whole family. I don't care if it got low ratings or whatsoever, all I know is that it's not a disappointing film. Well, I never thought it's a good one before until I saw the sequel. I thought that it's another boring movie for children, but I have to admit that I made a mistake on judging it without even watching it first. I've never seen the prequel yet, but I will look for a copy of it. That's for sure! I won't write a review about it, because I'm not that good at it. I also don't have enough time to think of perfect words to describe and summarize this film. Instead, I'm going to blog about those catchy and quotable quotes I got from here. Here we go:

Those are just the quotes that I can recall. I also liked the completely honest part of Greg which actually didn't make her Mom happy despite her wanting for him to be truthful. That was one of the absurd parts of this movie. I love the part when Greg's grandfather hoped to have another great celebration for his next birthday, and Greg answered, "That is if you're still alive next year." Another one was when Mrs. Heffley's newspaper colleague called over the phone and she didn't want to answer it. She told Greg not to tell her friend that she's in the house, but Greg refused because that would be lying. Mrs. Heffley went outside looking in so Greg could tell her colleague that she's actually not IN the house. Great one, eh? I strongly suggest that you watch this movie. You will never regret allotting a few moments of your life for this.

A Dog Story

When I first heard of the movie Hachiko from my highschool friends, I didn't care about it at all. I just said, "Nah, it's just the same old dog story again." I doubted the beautiful feedbacks they gave for that film. I wasn't excited to know what it's really like. Days passed and I forgot about it. Yesterday, my mother brought along some DVDs for us -- there are 3 Idiots, From Prada to Nadaand Hachiko. I've already watched the first one, and I'm not interested with the second. I watched the latter one with my sisters instead. Now, I understand where the "beautiful feedbacks" my friends had for that movie were coming from.

Hachi (English Title) is a true story of faith, devotion and undying love as its tagline goes. Hachi was actually an abandoned puppy who found its way to its master, Mr. Parker Wilson. As his wife said, Parker didn't find Hachi, cause it was Hachi who found Parker. This movie is definitely a perfect tear-jerker for pet lovers like me. It touched my heart so bad I couldn't help but cry. In fact, this is the only film that got me weeping from start to finish. I didn't know a dog can love its master that much that long. That must be true love from a pet's point of view. If you ask me, I don't see Hachi as just a pet. I see him as a man's best friend indeed.

Watching this film would make you want to have a pet who would love you like Hachi did. I am not that much of a dog-lover, but now I definitely am. Hachi faithfully waited for his master everyday for nine years even when his master already died. Who wouldn't be moved by that wonderful story of loyalty? It was like Hachi's love for Mr. Parker was life for the dog itself. If not because of its strong and imperishable love for its master, Hachi would not last that long. With that, I would like to share you this line Mr. Parker's Japanese friend told Hachi when he found it patiently waiting at the train station after many years. I got this from IMdB:

(Talking in Japanese) It's been a year, hasn't it? I wake up sometimes in the middle of the night and think about Parker. He was a good friend. I understand how you feel. Hachi, my friend, Parker is never coming home. But if Hachiko wants to wait, then Hachiko should wait. You want to wait for him, don't you? Have a long life, Hachi.

That quotable quote really made my tears fall. How I wish I'll have a dog like him. Now, let me talk about my top favorite scenes from this film. The first one was when Mr. Parker was training the little Hachi how to fetch a ball. It was the time when Parker's wife was about to sell the dog, but when she saw how much her husband loved it she changed her mind. The second one was when Hachi was already two years old. Hachi accompanies Mr. Parker at the train station every single morning, and waits for his return at the same spot every afternoon. The third one was the morning before Parker died. Hachi never fetched a ball but before its master died, he managed to do it for the first time which made his master really proud. The last one was when Mr. Parker died while at work. Hachi still waited for him at the station despite all the hindrances that came its way everyday for nine years.

Every single scene in this heart-warming film is very memorable, I have to say. You will never regret watching this. Prepare to shed some tears, folks! Be sure to bring tissues with you.

Season of the Witch

I found another favorite movie. Thanks to my sister, Miko who is very much a movie buff. If not because of her I wouldn't be updated with the latest films. As I said before, I hardly ever watch movies because I find it a waste of time. I can’t stand staying put doing nothing but to watch the scenes pass by. Honestly, there’s a one out of three chance that a certain movie can get me staring transfixed at the motion picture going on. And now, Season of the Witch obtains a part of that 1/3 chance for a film to get me hooked.

As far as I understand, the story revolves around the servants of God and this girl who is thought to be a witch. The monk strongly believes that she really is one, because she spoke in a language that nobody understood. One more thing is that a plague afflicts every town two days after she passes by. Those things don’t make her a witch, but the monk said those are signs that she is one. The soldiers and the monk were tasked to bring the girl to the place of the monks to give her a fair trial to prove her innocence or guilt. You should watch it for yourself to know the shocking (at least for me) twist.

I don’t want to talk seriously about the characters of the story, so let me just talk about who among them got my admiration the most. I love Nicholas Cage’s role because he wasn’t stricken by the deceptions done by the girl. Although in the last part of the movie, he made her happy by doubting God. Good thing though that his friend was there to rescue him from his drawback. I also love the altar boy’s role not only because he’s handsome, but also because he... oh, let me not spoil the story.

I really love movies that are set in the old era, with all those damsels in archaic wardrobes, chivalric knights on noble steeds, honorable monks on old-fashioned coats. Most of the movies I’m totally into are set behind the times. I’m a big fan of the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Harry Potter saga, for an instance. The only thing I found unattractive about the cinematography was when Nicolas Cage and his friend were talking while on their way. I noticed that the background was not real, but that’s forgivable anyway. It’s not a major thing to dislike the entire film.

What moved me about this film is when the monk warned everyone that the mischievous girl sees their weakness, and uses it against them. There’s this one soldier who remembers his daughter whenever she looks at the girl. She uses it to knock him down. Another thing is I realized that we should never give up in everything that we do because God will never abandon us. That’s what I learned from the monk. We must never doubt his ability to help us get out of the dungeon of darkness. The least we could do is to trust in Him faithfully.

Season of the Witch is a must-watch film indeed!

day 09 - a song that you can dance to

It’s Wonderful by Joao Gilberto

This task got me stuck. It’s difficult because I can’t even dance. I just wish I can. I wasn’t given the talent to stun people by my graceful grooves. I thought, how am I supposed to choose a song that I can dance to? Then I realized slow dance is still a dance, right? Yay for that! I can dance just by swaying my body from left to right repeatedly. Am I right in believing that what I’m describing to you is waltz? So yeah, I chose this jazz song from the movie Eat Pray Love for my 9^th day in this song challenge. I love this song because it’s very romantic. I just hate how Joao sang it. He sounds like he’s just reading the lyrics, but I still like it nonetheless.

day 03 - a song that makes you happy

I’m not much of a movie buff but the song that makes me happy is, again, from a movie. I can really say that I get so attached to the few movies I’ve watched. That is the effect of not having a dose of motion pictures more often. And because of that, I am still ultimately and guiltily hooked with the action-packed comical film of 2010 -- Scott Pilgrim versus The World. I still couldn’t get enough of it up until now. I’ve watched it five times already, and I still want to watch all over again. Even now, I am still fixated by those exhilarating scenes and side-splitting spiels.

The song that makes me happy is called “We Are the Sex Bob-Omb” sung by the Sex Bob-Omb band themselves. That band doesn’t exist in reality though, but in the film, it does. SBO is composed of Stephen Spills (on vocals/guitar), Kim Pine (on drums), Young Neil (extra) and Scott Pilgrim (on bass). They sang it in the first part of the movie while Scott’s highschooler girlfriend, Knives Chau, was watching in awe. I love this song because it’s so cool. It makes me happy because whenever I listen to it, I happen to recall all the absurd scenes that got me from the movie.

So, here it is.

I personally love that music video. Have you noticed how Scott played his guitar? It made me laugh while watching it. My boyfriend even tried to mimic it, and as usual, he got it almost right. He definitely has the knack on impersonating someone who has grabbed his attention.

In The Realm of Senses: Psychotic Lust

True story of a woman called Sada Abe.

I am really honored to have the chance to watch one part of Japan’s history unfolding before my very eyes in class. I can’t imagine myself watching “In the Realm of Senses” outside the four corners of our classroom. I don’t actually feel anything bad about Sir Varquez showing the film in class, because we will be well guided especially with someone more knowledgeable around. For me, the movie was very helpful. It opened my heart and mind from different realizations. That’s what I love about UP, we can still get some significant life lessons even from the most sensitive and controversial matters.

Watching Sada Abe’s sexual undertakings made me think of many things. What if I get obsessed with my partner, will I do what she has done? Just thinking about it makes me shudder. I don’t think I can do such a cruel thing. I may sound like a typical woman-in-love, but I am someone who believes in an intimate, yet passionate kind of love conquest. Each one who participates in a romantic affair must be selfless. Selfishness of even just one party is certain to result to something chaotic, just like what happened to Sada and her partner, Kichi-san. I really pray that I shall never have to stand in her shoes. Psychotic lust is dangerous!

My heart goes out to Kichi-san. My heart bleeds seeing him suffer just as long as he could give pleasure to the woman he loves, even though he couldn’t take it anymore. Sada Abe was always asking him why his manhood gets hard that easily. Who would’ve thought that in the last part of the film, it would no longer erect, unlike what’s expected? After everything they’ve done, maybe Kichi-san has had enough. Their sex scenes had totally taken its toll on me. I got fed up just watching them do it habitually, how much more if I’m doing it as well. I don’t think I can manage getting laid ALL THE TIME.

One of the most memorable scenes in the film, aside from the part where Sada castrated her partner, was when Sada asked Kichi to choke her during sex. It may be too mushy to say, but I saw the love in Kichi’s eyes. He said he doesn’t want to see Sada suffer, but she still didn’t care. That proved his love for her, but she wasn’t mindful of it. All she minded was the satisfaction she wanted to attain from him. For me, seeing how Kichi showed his love for Sada was the turning point of the film. For almost an hour and a half, I thought what she felt for Sada was only lust and nothing more. I didn’t think he loved her that much that he sacrificed himself just to make her happy. That was the best part of the film for me.

I’ve noticed that the two main actors were really having sex. It was not fake unlike in other films. I can’t imagine what it’s like doing it in the set where there are a lot of people watching. I commend the actress who played the role of Sada Abe, because she’s not afraid to flaunt what she got. She has a great body, so she has the right to show it off. I admire her courage of not depriving herself of baring her skin in one of the Japan’s important historical movies. Her performance was also superb, because I can definitely feel that her pleasure was real. I can also feel that her craft was important to her, that’s why she gave her all. She didn’t mind what others might think about her. With that, I salute her!

The experience of watching “In the Realm of Senses” with other people was just normal. We don’t know what other people might think of doing after watching this film alone. I can’t take seeing the scenes all by myself. I want to be surrounded with my classmates who highly regard this film as something for academic context only. There was a unanimous question that has been raised while the movie was going on. Sada Abe and Kichi-san had been making love like it was their hobby, did they ever had a baby? In Tagalog, “Nagbunga ba ang kanilang kapusukan?”

Must-Watch Films Indeed

After watching a very controversial film in our Asia and the World Class, I think I deserve something to wash my brain from all the overly delicate scenes I've had in that Franco-Japanese film. Thanks a lot to my friend, Jewel, who gave me a copy of the most talked about Indian film in school, 3 Idiots. I never thought the story would capture my heart, because I was actually reluctant to watch it at first. As what I've always said, I'm really not a big fan of movies.

As I searched about this Bollywood movie I found out that it was actually adapted from the novel Five Point Someone by Chetan Bhagat. I want to read it. What I love about this film is the power of positivity it is promoting. No wonder it became the highest-grossing film in its opening weekend in India. ALL IS WELL! No matter how big a problem is, just think that all is well, and everything's going to be fine. It won't solve the problem, but at least it will help you gain courage to face what's bugging you. This movie will also teach you how valuable passion is. For an instance, in studying. We shouldn't just study to make good grades. We should study to learn. I wish I could be like Rancho who is really passionate about education. This movie will not just impart you some important things in life, it will also make you laugh. This is definitely a stress-reliever! A must-watch movie indeed!

Everybody's Fine is another tear-jerker movie perfect for a weather like this -- cold and misty. I like this film because it makes me realize the things I've done wrong against my parents. Watching this made me feel so guilty that I disregard their feelings most of the time. I don't want to make them feel neglected when the time comes that we have to live a separate life. I like this line told by Frank's (Robert de Niro) son, David: "‎We don't tell you a lot of things, but that doesn't mean we want to hurt you." I totally agree with him! Sometimes we may keep everything in secret, because we just don't want our parents to worry too much. There are some things that must be kept unsaid, so as to avoid further arguments. Prepare your hankies as you watch this movie.

I've been so worn off the past weeks because of the mental stress I got from nonstop academic activities, and these two are the movies that helped me balance my emotions this week. And oh, do watch out for my movie review on the highly-sensitive Japanese film we watched in our Asia and the world class, In the Realm of Senses. You might want to watch it too. But I warn you, it's explicit. I wanna watch some more light and feel-good movies, can you suggest some?

Everybody Has a Secret

I’ve already seen the trailer of “She’s the Man” long before. That was two years ago, I think. I liked it a lot, but I never got the chance to watch it right away, because I got contented just watching the movie clips. I was not that into movies at all. But I thought the girl was so cool, because she had a great way of pulling off a guy role, although she kind of looked like a grade school boy.

I didn’t know Amanda Bynes actually starred the lead role of this film. Call me a loser, but I’ve honestly seen her first on Easy A, and I instantly had a bad impression on her. We just downloaded this film, because my sister found out that Channing Tatum was part of it. We’re crazy about him! He’s just so hot! But now that I’ve watched this ultimately fun chick flick, I end up liking Amanda Bynes a big deal!

I seriously don’t like my timid and super feminine attitude. I think it’s totally boring! In fact, I’m sick of me being too sensitive and weak. I’m actually not good at mingling with the opposite sex, unless of course we’re that close. I always get the feeling of uneasiness whenever I interact with guys I’m not familiar with. Maybe it’s because I’m used to have just girls with me. I’m not comfortable with a lot of men around.

Yes, I’m that conservative. I grew up knowing that men are dangerous. I admit that I really had that sort of lame views. I’ve always wanted to be confident enough to face men, without coming off as desperate for their attention. I want to be a manly woman. I really dig boys’ activities like playing musical instruments in a band, and being into extreme sports. But I don’t have the talent for those kinds of stuffs. How I wish I could be like Viola who knows well how to be a man and a woman at the same time. Tough, isn’t it? Two thumbs up for She's the Man!

My Top 10 Films of 2010

I don't really watch movies. I can actually just count those films I've watched in the cinema, and even on DVDs with my fingers. I don't know why, but I kind of feel uneasy whenever I sit in front of the TV or big screen, just doing nothing but watch the scenes pass by. I don't feel comfortable when I'm not moving. Weird, eh? That's probably one of the behaviors I got from my mother. And because I'm not a movie freak, there are only a few films that got my attention for the year 2010. Let me begin with my list, which is not in particular order.

SCOTT PILGRIM vs THE WORLD


This movie is so EPIC! I love it because of the humor, the music and the superb cast! Ramona Flowers was really pretty and MYSTIC! At first I thought she was too cool for Scott, but when he defeated Ramona's SEVEN DEADLY X's he became way cooler than Ramona! Michael Cera definitely rocks. GO Sex Bob-Omb! This movie's Official Soundtrack is an A+ too! Best Sex Bob-Omb performance (for me) was when they sang Threshold to ward off the Katayanagi Twins (Ramona's 6th Evil X)

KICK ASS



One of the best action-packed films I've ever watched. This movie was the reason why I began to love superhero/action-comedy films. This is actually not intended to be watched by kids because of its profane and violent contents. Good thing I'm already 20, cause I am a big fan of Hit-Girl! Chloe Moretz played the role really well. She acted and spoke like she's not a child. I envy her guns, especially the BAZOOKA! :-D

DEAR JOHN



I almost cried watching Savannah and David's love story. It's a tear-jerker I should say! Having a special someone who is actually an army is hard. It's like your heart never stops pounding every minute as long as I know he's in the danger zone. It's also difficult to keep up with a long distance relationship. That may be the reason why Savannah decided to give up on John. One of the best things of this movie is, the soundtrack. It's so GOOD! You will never regret downloading them. Amanda Seyfried sings so well, and Channing Tatum is just so HOT!

EASY A



This was the second and last film I watched on the big screen. I was with my friend, Maxine, when we had a doze of this adorable chick flick. This is such a hilarious film! I bought a DVD, and watched this three times at home. I even want to have a Scarlet Letter A on my wardrobe just like Olive Penderghast and Hester Prynne. That's how I'm addicted to Easy A! Another proof of my intense devotion is I'm now loving "the worst song ever" -- Natasha Bedingfield's Pocket Full of Sunshine. Crazy, isn't it?

EAT PRAY LOVE



One of my favorite Holliwood actresses is Julia Roberts. My Mom influenced me to like her. I've seen her box-office movies before, and she didn't really fail my standards of a must-watch chick flick star. Eat Pray Love is the best film for all the heart-broken women out there. You have to have time for yourself in order to love again. The best scenes in this film are actually shot in Italy where world-class cuisines are served. Your mouth will really water and all!

STEP UP 3D



This is way better than the second installment of Step UP, although I could say that the girl in Step Up 2 danced better than the girl in Step Up 3D. What I love about this film is that, eventhough I'm not a dance fanatic, The Pirate's move and groove make me want to dance as well. I love Moose! He may be thin, but his dancing capability is exceptional. He's a great dancer! The soundtrack is also perfect for some club party mood.

SPLICE



We watched this film for our NSTP-CWTS class. One thing I realized when we watched this is that, the phenotype (physical appearance) of an organism is equal to the organism's genes, environment and the interaction of the genes and environment. I learned that from our Biodiversity class. I just related it to Splice.

TOY STORY 3



I also watched this on cinema with Maxine. We were so carried away with the scenes, that we never talked the whole time. We also tried to stop our tears from falling, that our throat ended up hurting. I love the animation as always. Too bad we didn't get to watch it on IMAX. This is my ultimate favorite childhood movie of all time! Woody and Buzz Lightyear are the best tandem!

LEAP YEAR



I love this film's tagline: Anna planned to propose to her boyfriend on February 29th. This is not her boyfriend. The narration made this film different from others. Even the smallest of details are relayed by the story-teller. Amy Adams and Matthew Goode look good together. They made a good couple in this movie -- an outgoing and fun manly man and a serious and professional lady. I also love the story line and the sceneries. Ireland is such a wonderful place with all the green grasslands and blue mountains. Perfect for nature lovers! I wanna be there someday.

CHLOE



Because I love Amanda Seyfried, I didn't hesitate to watch Chloe. Her role here is much different from other roles she played. She's darkly erotic here compared to her sweet and girly characters in Mamma Mia and Dear John. I love the twist of this movie. Definitely, a must-see. It's a great mature movie indeed!
