Welcome Readers!

Welcome to the Mystic Blog of the only Mystic Nymph! I hope you have a blast reading my thoughts, and I hope you drop by again!

I'll let you in a little revelation about my favorite usernames in my virtual sites. First is about my Mikimoto Angel pen name. Mikimoto is a famous brand of pearl accessories in America. I first saw that brand in Vogue Magazine. I got mesmerized by that label, and I thought of using it. I just added Angel from my name "Angela". Thus, the formation of Mikimoto Angel.

For my other pen name Mystic Nymph, the word mystic really came from the show Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog. I used to be so hooked to that show. I am also obsessed with mythologies, and nymphs are mythical creatures depicted as beautiful young women who are considered as guardians of objects and places in nature. Thus, the evolution of Mystic Nymph.

Crimes and Death

I can’t believe how easy it is for others to take away another’s life these days. Those heartless culprits deprive other people their right for life as natural as a routine. It totally makes me sad to know that all of us are already in the hands of danger. That piece of truth alarms me like crazy. Honestly, I get frantic just watching the news lately because I might get surprised to find out that someone I know has just got killed or something. Damn, just saying it makes me shudder. It’s not something I have to think about, but I can’t help myself. God forbid!

Half of my mind is occupied by this wicked thing called paranoia. That is mainly because crimes take place anywhere and anytime to anyone. Exemption happens to no one, whether you’re a rich and famous personality or otherwise. It just goes to show that there is no discrimination when it comes to crime. It’s true that death is just around the corner and that it comes like a thief in the night, but what’s unacceptable is the fact that cruelty becomes an instrument for the loss of those helpless humans. Too bad that the life they deserve has just been stolen from them by some worthless evil creatures.

Criminals nowadays have evolved into something more dangerous. From carnappers, thieves or swindlers, they have all turned into monstrous murderers as well. It’s such a predicament to realize that we can no longer trust everybody that easily. I know it's bad to judge people, but in times like this, all we can do is to prepare ourselves for the worst even if it means not putting our full trust to people, even to those close to us. As someone says it, every single person you come in contact has the potential to kill you. Scary, isn't it?

Have you heard the news about people getting tortured, gunned, stabbed or even chopped to death? Those bits of news make me fear for my life even more and of course, for the life of those people I hold dear in my heart. As much as possible, I want all of us to be safe wherever we go. If only I have the special powers to shield them from uncanny criminals, I definitely would. I don't want them to suffer from the hands of filthy animals who just get away with murder.

Because I care for you, I've gathered some tips that I think are very helpful to everyone of us. I got these from the news and from the web as well.

Tip #1: "Criminals focus on easy targets. The best and easiest way to avoid crime is to be alert and aware. Pay attention to your surroundings. If something doesn’t look or seem right it probably isn’t."

Tip #2: "Criminals love a victim who is predictable, so don’t be! Change your routines regularly. Add some variety to your routine."

Tip #3: "Never be alone. Always have a lot of people that you know and trust around you at all times, day and night."

Tip #4: "For carjacking incidents, make sure you keep your doors and windows locked at all times and especially when at a traffic stop."

Tip #5: "Stay alert. Be informed, take the time to educate yourself about crime trends and use that information to protect yourself."

Tip #6: I also learned from a TV show that criminals like snatchers or kidnappers get out-of-focus with their goal if you distract them by shouting. That can also call other people's attention. Throw your something you have to the snatcher, and run as fast as you can.

Tip #7: This is from TV Patrol World -- Carjackers sometimes use the identity of policemen to get more victims. Always remember that a real policeman doesn't go too close to the automobile of civilians. They have this certain required distance away from a civilian car. Also, a real policeman doesn't get his hands inside the civilian car window during transactions.

Tip #8: Also from TV Patrol World: Car Dealers should not trust buyers that easily. Criminals usually take advantage of test drives for their attack. To make sure that the buyers are authentic, ask for valid IDs and documents.

Tip #9: "Get involved in your community by joining or starting an anti-crime program like neighborhood watch."

Tip #10: "As much as possible, avoid conversations with strangers. If you feel you have to answer, do so simply but firmly, and keep walking."

Always remember folks, NEVER GIVE IN TO CRIME! In that way, you will be safe. I hope these compiled tips helped you. Be safe everyone!

A Bit of an Infuriation

Let me just breathe, and forget my anger.

My day? It started off with the wrong note. My classmates and I were talking about the Senior's Ball come 13th of February. I'm still not sure whether to attend or not. I have two other sisters in college, and I don't want my parents to be burdened with a lot of financial matters. I've already asked their permission about two field trips scheduled next month, and I'm afraid they won't allow me to join the ball anymore. What infuriated me was when my classmate told me I'm OA just because I told her about my worry. What's OA about it? She doesn't know what she's saying! I'm not as selfish as her. I care for my family, unlike her!

It has been a long while since I've used the statement "I'm pissed off!" Now, let me say hello to it again. I'm really mad! I really hate people who are insensitive. Who wouldn't, right? What's worse is, my friend has to be one of them. I've been good to her as much as I could. I don't even try to say bad things to her, because I know she gets hurt that easily. I just hope she sees how hard I try to keep her. If she wants her friends to stay, she should at least try to be careful with our feelings. We should all be sensitive with the things we utter. Keep the ones who care for us away from pain. I wish I can say this to her upfront.

MYSTIC NYMPH supports PETA

Animal cruelty -- knowing someone who does this makes me feel so sad. When will they ever stop hurting those poor animals? When will they realize how badly they treat those lovely creations? I just couldn't take seeing how animals suffer from other people's diabolic deeds which they don't deserve. My heart bleeds and grieves for them. If only I can do something to stop those rude people from doing any further damages to our creatures.

I am very passionate towards animals. I care for them deeply. Some may be dangerous, but humans shouldn't inflict pain to them. I get daunted whenever I read news about people torturing dogs, cats and even the deadliest predators in the world. Why do they have minds like that of a lunatic person? Don't they know that animals have feelings as well? Maybe they really don't know. I just hope they change their minds someday. I know it's never too late.

The Almighty Creator created the humans to be the stewards, not the destroyers of the Earth. Taking care of our ecosystem also means taking care of all the organisms it has, especially the animals. We're supposed to protect and maintain other life systems here in the world, and not to murder them instead.

Whenever I know of people who don't have the heart and conscience to treat animals properly, I give an immediate dislike to them. If they can't be good to animals, how much more to other people? I despise those people who have cruel intentions towards other life forms. I'm totally down on them! They're repulsive and abominable criminals. Shame on them!

I am ultimately glad that there are still good people who don't hold back in fighting for animals' welfare and rights. I am seriously grateful to God for having the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) around. I may not be their official member, but in my heart I am. I pray that with their presence, people will learn to love animals like their own. I hope those cruel people get tired, and eventually cease their wicked actions towards the helpless animals.

No life is a waste. We don't have the right to make life any harder for others. To all the PETA supporters out there, let us not be lackadaisical in saving the lives of the animals we hold dear. Let us do our part in helping them live peacefully with other human beings. We must learn to cultivate that value. Screw the thought of beating them to death. In any case, I know there is still hope. So, help us God.

One Lonely yet Lovely Song

I’ve had this song in my play list for three years already. I heard this song four years ago on my favorite radio station, NU 107, and instantly fell in love with it. I didn’t know the title and the artist of this song, because the DJ wasn’t telling it. All I know is that it has “Sleeps with Butterflies” in the chorus, not knowing that it’s actually the title. Good thing the Internet was already up and running that time. It's the only Tori Amos song I know. Too bad, right?

This song reminds me of the melodramatic memory I had with my first boyfriend. When he said he no longer wanted me as his girlfriend, and that he didn’t see our relationship working out, this song was being played. The lyrics, “I’m not like the girls that you’ve known” struck me. It was like something inside me wanted to scream, and urge him to listen to the song so that he would know what I felt. Tori Amos was like my spokesperson that very moment, although I know my ex was not paying attention to the song.

Brutality -- Take it, it's yours!

A 39-year-old woman was found dead today in her house at Solariega Talomo, Davao City. It's near where we live. The suspect is her 20-year-old boyfriend who is now hiding from the authorities. What's worst about this case is that, the victim's boyfriend allegedly killed her out of jealousy. The guy must have been that emotional when he did the crime. Maybe the girl did something so painful to make his boyfriend act that wild. But of course, whatever reasons the suspect may have, he still doesn't have the right to take away one's life that easily and brutally. Guess what the culprit did to the poor woman. I'm gonna say it in my dialect first.

BISAYA version (Quoted from Vina Araneta of TV Patrol Southern Mindanao):

Gigulgol ang liog, giputol ang tiil ug gilangkat ang suso!

TAGALOG version (My translation):

Ginilitan ang leeg, pinutol ng paa at tinanggal ang dede.

What the heck! The news tried to censor the bloody scene, but the words of the reporter said a lot. I could imagine how the woman looked so torn apart just by listening to the news report. It was a very inhuman act! The one who did it might be psychotic. No wonder why the family of the victim decided to cremate her instead. Justice should be served. The heartless rascal must pay for his evil deed!

People Like These Get Into My Nerves

I'm wearing off. So does everyone else I guess. What am I murmuring about? I can't just remain taciturn about these things bugging my emotions. They're actually not things, they're acts to be exact. I'm cursing now. I know it's wicked but it's all I can do to get this distressing sensation out of my system.

Why did I say I'm wearing off? It's because I'm so tired of mingling with people who don't even know how to practice being kind and gentle. They totally wear out my patience.

As what I always do, I have again this list on the acts people behave that I hate the most. It may not be so dandy but at least I've let every crappy thing out of my chest. Here we go dudes:

1+ People who just shrug their shoulders when someone asked them about something.

2+ People who remain passive when something is talking. Those who don't listen.

3+ People who brag about being everyone's favorite. It may be verbal or otherwise.

4+ People who talk in front of the one they're actually talking about. perfect example of first-rate uncouthness.

5+ People who judge something or someone without even giving an effort to understand or find out what happened behind.

6+ People who don't appreciate efforts of those who want to get their attention. Pinapansin na nga, nag-iinarte pa.

7+ People who don't give others the chance to feel joyful even with those little things that give them happiness.

8+ People who are so insensitive that they consciously or unconsciously make somebody feel he or she is foolish.

9+ People who are posers. Those who act like someone they're not. They are just making themselves ridiculous.

10+ People who act like untouchables. They feel different that they start believing they're above others. Those who have the attitude assumed for a certain effect.

Now do you feel what I feel? I can't pretend to be muted with those things I've observed from the people around me. I get frantic deep within whenever people behave in such a spoiled way. This list is my self-proclaimed exclusive expose. Do you know some behaviors worse than these? Let me know. Let us together unveil the conducts only keen minds take heed.

Snatches of Conversation Overheard

Just like any other animal, I have as well this sharp sense of hearing. I can always find myself snooping around whenever I notice something odd. It may be people talking around about rumors. It’s human nature to be curious. For some reason, though I try to suppress it, I have this tendency of spying and trying to get honest answers. Sounds so desperate, but I can’t help it.

Those whispered truth that are meant not be heard by any, reach my ears. And as much as I want to ignore it, I just can’t. Overhearing it is not a bad thing. It’s their fault. It’s their random act of stupidity. Just don’t get caught that you’re listening. That’s a huge embarrassment. You might be charged of being “chismosa/o”

I will tell you about something I accidentally heard. It was a bare-naked truth that was supposed to be confidential. But I’m wondering if I actually just overheard it, it could be their intention to let me hear it. Who knows, right? Anything could be possible.

I was eating then with my friends. There were these two ladies with us in the table. The other one even smiled at me. Later on, I heard them talking about a girl involved in a controversy. I knew who they were talking about. Though they talked in a low tone, I can still hear them. They talked shit about me.

One girl spoke about how stupid I was. Of course, I know which side they were with. It was so obvious for me not to even notice. They were against me. I don’t know if they knew they were talking about me. I don’t know if they planned about it. I couldn’t care less. I was too daunted hearing things against me.

It’s not easy knowing how much others hate me. It’s as difficult as pushing yourself too hard to a hole, too small to fit you in. I think it’s a poor analogy. Forgive me for murdering my own sentiments.

When I listened to them, I tried hard not to show any emotion. I acted like I didn’t care, but in my depths, I was hurt. It cut through my heart. I was like a victim of a crime I myself consented. I allowed myself to be stepped down by these one-sided creatures.

Despite one’s urge to keep a secret, as long as it’s passed on to another, it’s unlikely to happen that the secret is best kept. Nothing is perfect. Each has its own flaws. Nothing can surely escape a fierce earshot…like mine.

In the midst of my speech

We had our first speech in COMA104. Introduction of a guest speaker, that is. I chose Ms Evelina Ayson as my "as if" keynote speaker for my "as if" seminar on Social Psychology. I was trembling on the stage but of course I tried so hard not to make it so obvious. I was tensed because in my two years in college, that was the first time I spoke again in front of a crowd. Well, they're not totally just a crowd, they're my classmates. Despite the shaking hands, I did my best though.
Someone got so rude when it was my turn to speak. I don't really know if she did it on purpose but I think she acted so bad. Our professor warned us beforehand not to go out the room when the speech is going on. But she went out. I really think she hates me. I'm not an idiot to not even notice it. I got hurt, I must admit. Really hurt, that I can't stop thinking about it. It's hard to attend a class when you know one or some of your classmates dislike you. I don't want to sound over reacting but that played on my head, even until this moment.

Kick That Dirty Little Pig!

Animated Pictures Myspace Comments

I saw that pig again! She's so pathetic cause I know she's just insecure with me! She has nothing else to do but to stare and talk behind me. Well, it's not just a simple stare though. It's something that could make you sense she's thinking bad against you. I definitely hate her and she will never be my friend. Thanks for ruining my day, piggy girl!
