Welcome Readers!

Welcome to the Mystic Blog of the only Mystic Nymph! I hope you have a blast reading my thoughts, and I hope you drop by again!

Marquee

I'll let you in a little revelation about my favorite usernames in my virtual sites. First is about my Mikimoto Angel pen name. Mikimoto is a famous brand of pearl accessories in America. I first saw that brand in Vogue Magazine. I got mesmerized by that label, and I thought of using it. I just added Angel from my name "Angela". Thus, the formation of Mikimoto Angel.

For my other pen name Mystic Nymph, the word mystic really came from the show Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog. I used to be so hooked to that show. I am also obsessed with mythologies, and nymphs are mythical creatures depicted as beautiful young women who are considered as guardians of objects and places in nature. Thus, the evolution of Mystic Nymph.

Train of Thoughts

This is my new blog header. How do you like it? I really love creating stuff like this.

I'm having this stupid blogger's block again, and it's totally giving me a lot of stress like it's all there is to live for. It's a big deal that it actually caused me to have bruxism which is a medical term for teeth-grinding. What the fudge! Another source of anxiety I had was when I found out that one of my Facebook friends actually used my four year old blog name as her online shop's site name. What a copy cat! I freaked out and seethed! I didn't want to engage in a petty quarrel, so I confronted her in the NICEST way possible. I told her this:

Hello there namesake! Thanks for showing your appreciation towards my blog name (which is Mystic Nymph), and even using it as your Facebook username. My blog just turned four last December 10. If you want to visit my blog, here's the URL: http://mikimotoangel.blogspot.com/ I also have a Facebook Page that you can find in this link:https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mystic-Nymph-Blogspot/159620428950

It may seem like I sounded such a bitch by lifting up my name, but I'm just telling her the truth in a decent way. I dealt with it constructively. I'm pretty sure that I am the original Mystic Nymph. And besides, this name  is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Philippines License. She's lucky I'm not some kind of a whore who would hold out for her and curse her like she's the most evil person in the world. I'm assuming  she still haven't read my personal message, because I still haven't received a reply from her.

I could use a break from that scary bit so, I let myself loose at Abreeza Ayala Mall (despite the rainy day) and had some unforgettable gastronomic trip with my boyfriend. We also bumped into some of my friends. What a small world! It was nice seeing you there Maicie, Regina, Christine and Tessa! Ciovic and I had our scrumptious lunch at Bigby's Cafe and Restaurant. We feasted upon Belly Busters Food Platter. It consists of "The ultimate combo of their famous barbecued babyback ribs, grilled rodeo chops and smoky pork belly, served in one heaping platter with garlic rice, buttered veggies and crispy onion rings." What a blast!

I now present you our photos...

I love this photo even though it's hazy.

We strolled and window shopped for more than an hour, and ate again. We snacked on McDonald's Large Fries, Apple Pie and hot coffee. We definitely spoiled our tummies today. This day is like Ciovic's pre-birthday celebration. He's turning 23 on Christmas Day.

Postscript: Please support my boyfriend's band HIGHWAY DRIVE by liking their Facebook Page. They are also the one and only Davao band who made it to the Top 12 Breakthrough Act finalist of Y! Rocks Philippines. They gave pride to our city, I should say. They got to play on the same stage with some of the country's rock music icons like Salamin, Ney Dimaculangan of 6 Cycle Mind and Ebe Dancel of Sugarfree last December 8, 2011 at SM City Davao Parking Lot C. I'll give you the link of their video performance once Y! Rocks releases it. I can't wait to watch it!

To my followers and new visitors, I apologize if I haven't payed your blog a visit lately. I was just too bummed these past few days. I will surely make it up to you as soon as my system gets back to normal again.

Of Assorted Thoughts and Stuff

I don't want to use the term "random" due to the fact that it has become an overrated word used for blogs. Just let me use "assorted" instead. So yeah, this post is going to be about different things running in my head. My mind is not in its proper state to elaborate on a single subject, as of the moment. My blogger-rific train of thought is currently unavailable. I'm kind of lost, because of my blogger's block that caused my week-long hiatus. I'm done with my explanation, let us now proceed to what I have to share:

This is how happy I am. My ghosts came out.

  • Last week was my first week to be out of school! It feels really great not having to worry about academic matters. Well, I'm not done with my thesis yet, but my adviser told me that it only needs some minor revisions. I can't wait to wrap it up. I can't wait to say "I'm all set and ready to march this April 2012!"

My first Camiguin escapade last February 2010. This was taken at White Island.

  • I'm planning to go with my sister Janine on their Arts and Society class' trip to Camiguin this February 2012. I miss that paradise a great deal! I wanna bathe in Sto. Nino Cold Spring, Katibawasan Falls and Arden Hot Spring one more time. I'll try to persuade my parents if they could grant me that wish. I'm crossing my fingers!

The Secret Circle Cast.  From left to right: Thomas Dekker as Adam, Shelley Hennig as Diana, Robertson as Cassie, Louis Hunter as Nick, Phoebe Tonkin as Faye and Jessica Parker Kennedy as Melissa.
  • This is one of the TV series I've been watching lately alongside The Lying Game, New Girl, Community, Pretty Little Liars and Breaking Bad. I like it because it involves teens and magic, but I can't say that I'm into it. This show's Pilot episode is a little off for me. Some acts and lines were corny and cliche, but I can forgo them and still give TSC a chance. I'm still on the 4th episode.

Group Messages. Photo not intended for copyright infringement.
  • Someone's been sending me group messages, and I kind of feel really annoyed. Why should she have to broadcast what she's doing through SMS. Duh, like we care! I hope this girl finds it in her heart that group texts are already obsolete. Why can't she post it on Facebook or Twitter instead of sending it one by one to all her phone book contacts.

  • As a bonus, I'll also be sharing some of the tunes that I've been indulging these past few days. Some of it are from my favorite movies and TV series' Soundtrack. Here they are:
We Won't Run - Sarah Blasko
Young Blood - The Naked and Famous
DNA - The Kills
Could've Had Me - Lex Land
Move With Me - Savannah Packard
I Want It All - Jules Larson
Sleep Alone - Bat for Lashes
Reasons To Love You - Meiko
Paralyzer - Finger Eleven
La Vie En Rose - Louise Armstrong

That's it for now, blogger friends. I hope you enjoyed reading my drifless blog post for today. According to http://thesaurus.com, drifless is the synonym of random. I used it, because as I said I hate using the latter. LOL! By the way, I'm looking for someone who could kick off my upcoming blog series that will feature the various thoughts of different guest writers. Who wants to be the first to do so? Just give me a buzz on my Facebook Page. I'll be waiting. Much love!

“What Would Penis Do?”

I knew by then that this video from Lev Yilmaz is going to be as fun as the others, also from him. But I would admit that when I first heard of the title of this video from our professor, I panicked. I might not be able to watch this at home because I thought my mother is not that open to things about sex and penises. I asked my friend if the video is sensual, and she said it's not so I watched it home secretly wishing my parents won't see the vulgar title.

If you ask me, I agree with the Lev's statement “Guys doesn't have entire freewill as he has three governing factions: the heart, the mind, and the penis.” I don't think boys do things only from their mind as some psychologists claim. They say men use their mind frequently as women use their heart. Yes, it's true, but I think men's mind are more concerned with matters about sex, which we can say the job of the penis.

Men are really vulnerable to sex. From an outsider's point of view, I think sex for them is something they can't live without. They talk about it a lot, showing that they desire for it. If they could live with the one and only girl in the world, but with an alien-looking face, I bet they would still have sex with that girl. That's what I assume about men in terms of sex. I know it's quite offending in a sense, so I give you my apologies.

It really is true that some men brag about their sex adventures with different girls. I read it in a magazine that men don't feel like a real men if they haven't experienced having sex with many girls. They even kiss-and-tell it to their male friends to let them know they have just become a real men by having sex with such overwhelming number of women.

I should at least be thankful to that five-letter word because if it's not for it, I wouldn't be born in this world. I feel ashamed saying the word, but it's true. Just consider it as a metonymy. Lev Yilmaz's video opens our mind to views that are both practical and realistic. This video shows us that there are a lot of factors to consider when it comes with our dealings with the opposite sex, or even to the same sex.

I suggest you watch other videos from Lev's Tales of Mere Existence such as Procrastination, Arrogance and Confidence, A Typical Conversation with my Mom, How to Break Up, Boyfriends I Have Been, How I Found Out About Girls, and many more fun videos. He now has five new videos for 2011, like How to Get Out of a Rut and Times I Tried to be a Womanizer. Check out his homepage Ingredient X Entertainment and YouTube link, here

Chronicles of the Harry Potter Fever

Would you still be surprised if I say, the 7th and last installment of the Harry Potter saga is a trending topic all over the world? Of course, you wouldn't. Am I correct or I am correct? I believe it's nonsense mentioning it, because HP has been a household subject for almost nine long years already. Both fanatics and detractors can attest to its magical fame and glory that caused mass hysteria every time. All got smitten to how the story of the boy-who-lived unfolds. Harry Potter has indeed cast a spell on the whole world with more than 250 million books sold in more than 200 countries worldwide.

Almost every soul in the entire globe got totally Potter-crazed. By that I mean for an instance, the HP mania has caused those enthusiasts to throw around words like "muggles", "mudblood", "quidditch" and whatnot. This bewitching craze has always been a little out of control, and that's a clear fact. Die-hard fans got so frantic in familiarizing every single detail about the life of Ron, Hermione, Harry and all the other characters of the story. I, for one, became a fan but sad to say, my fondness for it got out of my system. It had already died a natural death, or maybe it's just on hiatus. I don't know. It's quite ironic, because my ring tone is still the Harry Potter theme.

Most of the world are suckers for HP, while I'm slowly becoming not. I'm not alone, and I'm quite sure about that. Tons of people experience having incredibly anti-social moments whenever they get to read HP books. How come I'm not as addicted as them? Maybe the HP magic got nullified with the state of mind I have. Kidding aside! On a serious note, if I were to evaluate myself as a fan I would say I'm just below average. With my insufficient knowledge on the story, I can conclude that I will never pass for an HP geek. I haven't even hit its books yet. Well, I've read a few pages from the Sorcerer's Stone, but still, that won't ever make me a full-fledged advocate.

For a few moments, let me go back in time when I was still diagnosed of Harry Potter fever. Sit back, relax and REWINDIO! Absurd, I've found a chance to show off what little I know about the Hogwarts' spells. Okay, let's cut that out. I only rely my narrow range of supernatural information from the motion pictures. I know that's just quite lame of me. I don't want to sound as if I'm baffled about that, so let me get this straight. I really don't have great aspirations of becoming a part of the hugely rabid HP fans club. That way, I save myself from unnecessary obsession.

Did I just sound like I'm sour graping? My apologies for that. I don't want to come off as if I'm high-minded or something. I guess I'm bitter because I used to keep up with my friends who are so into HP. I used to be at par with them with the advent of the Internet. I used to know a lot of character names, and terms in the book/movie, but now I can barely remember everything. But that's not a big deal for me, because going to great lengths just to arm myself with all the HP trivia isn't everything to me. Although I have to admit that I once collected things that are related to HP, like pictures and quotable quotes from the movie and the book.

I've had a dose of this saga until Order of the Phoenix already, which I got to watch in the special screening done by the Order of De Molay Davao Chapter last 2007. My liking for HP has also ended there. My brain got all mixed up with the flow of the story. I got bored as a result. I lost my interest simply because I lost track of the important details of the story. There, I said it for honesty's sake. I don't want to watch it again and again let alone reading all those HP books just to fully grasp everything.

Harry Potter has just come to its finality, yet the undying support of the people who have grown to love it still remains. I may think for now that its fame is getting overrated, but I'm hoping that the thought of it won't linger long enough on my mind. I believe my pessimistic stand towards HP is just due to the fact that I've missed out a lot. I have a feeling that the former HP fan in me will get back on track once I get the chance to re-run the saga. I have to admit that I still have the desire to know how it'll all end, but I'm just trying not to let it show.

That's my Harry Potter experience. How was yours all along? I would love to hear about them. Share your thoughts! Smiles.

Davao Jeepneys: Invaders of Privacy

The public Utility Jeepneys or PUJs have become the automotive trademark of the Philippines and is also an ultimate public transportation vehicle in Davao City. Through this form of public transport, we can go to many different places . Those destinations that are away from home becomes just within our reach, in the cheapest way possible.

Here in Davao, jeepneys crowd the streets more than private vehicles do. Because of this, one doesn't have to make much effort to catch a ride. On the contrary, it is also claimed by some politicians here that jeepney build-ups cause headaches and stress to most Davaoenos. Even though we hate the constant traffic congestion they cause, we still submit to their affordable offer to us.

Davaoenos are tightfisted individuals, in general. They will not spend money on something too costly, unless it's that important. It's not that we're too thrifty, we just think of what's more practical. For an instance, only a few choose to ride a taxi even though it's more comfortable to sit privately in it.

Speaking of privacy. that's exactly what jeepneys do not have that all of the Davaoenos scream for. Riding the jeep is more like paying for your personal space to be violated. Nobody wants that to happen, but the passengers do not have any control over it. All they have to do is sit and pay for the ride.

It's quite depressing that we can't fight for our right as paying commuters. The passage, "The customer is always right" seems to be so vague in Davao's public transport. It's inevitable that we feel helpless the moment we get in the jeep.

We sure have the privilege to choose for the jeep we want to ride on. But the dispatchers or the so-called kunduktor never seem to have the slightest sense of respect. They gang up on every probable commuter, and force them to ride on their respective jeepneys. And worst, they howl or shout on your face with their bad breath. It's harassing and irritating. They even have the nerve to touch and hold you, which is totally uncalled for especially when you don't know each other.

They also unhesitatingly carry passenger's baggage so that he/she has no choice but to get inside their jeepneys. Another thing, the dispatchers tend to compress twelve passengers into a ten-passenger jeepney size seat. Oftentimes, we ride in a noticeably full jeep but still the kunduktor (dispatcher) always says "Kulang pa! Sibugi lang diha" (Some more! Give space!) (Poor translation, I know) and constantly taps the jeep which tends to annoy the commuters.

Most drivers and dispatchers are never satisfied unless their jeepneys are fully -- make that overly loaded. No drivers hit the road with their jeepneys empty. Well, there are a few ones who are not so thirsty for passengers but that's just a rare case. I guess that's what you call business. If a passenger gets inside a jeepney with few passengers inn it, he or she has to wait until the jeepney is full. Passengers cannot just demand the driver to move on, because they're afraid it might only cause arguments.

"Kung nagdali ka, pag-taxi na lang!" (If you're in a hurry, ride a taxi instead!) That is the statement we often hear from the drivers and dispatchers whenever we ask them to roll. We can never stay away from these circumstances no matter what we do. The own the jeepney. Their rules on how to run it depend on their strategy, and not to us.

Another thing is that some jeepney owners get creative with their designs by pimping it with colorful stickers and accessories. In fact, there are also rides that have mirrors on their jeepney ceilings. Rumors have it that this is a strategy to peep on a lady passenger's cleavage, without being noticed. I hope it's not true though because that will definitely freak women out. The only way to stay away from this possible harassment is to dress accordingly.

What's most annoying is the loud music the driver's play. People have different preferences when it comes to music. Not everyone likes the same kind. Music is indeed personal. Some even hate music. For others, one song can be a source of headache especially if it's too deafening and boisterous. In this case, tthe passenger's privacy is also violated.

Some Davaoenos nowadays are used to being violated with their personal space. However, one should take a strong part in defending their rights not just as commuters but also as citizens. You must be fair to yourself if one is taking advantage of being unfair to you. Jeepneys are a part of Davao's culture. If one has to embrace it, one has to learn how to survive with it.

Mystique Shutterbug: All Me

I hope it's not too obvious in these photos that I was struggling. It's just hard to be alone when you want someone to take a picture of you so bad. I wish I have a tripod. Darn! Enough of all that ranting, Kat. Friends, here are some of my recent pictures:

I don't know why, but I hate it when my blog posts don't have a lot of words. Too bad, I can't think of something better to blog today. So, let me grab this opportunity of re-posting some of my latest tweets from @KatrinaAngela, just like what I always do in Katrina's Thought Bubbles. Here goes:

  • My sisters are already getting busy for school stuffs. They're studying, and I'm not. Why am I so lax? Wish I could be as diligent as them.

  • These four new kittens we have totally made my day! I find them so cute when they chase each other. They make me smile. I love them so much!

  • My next shoe target is Figlia. Last time I checked their collection, I was totally smitten. It's just that, they were a little pricey. Save!

  • Why am I so wasteful on money? I need to learn how to spend my money wisely. My effort on budgeting just becomes worthless all the time! :-(

  • I really wanna watch those death-defying acrobatic stunts of Cirque de Soleil. I wish I can see just even one live performance before I die.

  • I wanna join events with the Davao Bloggers, but I still can't. Hopefully after this semester, I will be able to meet those cool bloggers.

  • "If you can't laugh on the same joke again and again, then why do you keep crying on the same thing over and over again?" - This is so true!

  • Good thing there's Twitter and Blogspot to help me cope w/ difficult moments. They're my emotional outlet. How do you get rid of bad vibes?

  • An advice for myself: Worry one thing at a time, or else your mind will explode. I'm thinking too much, and it's slowly killing me. Help me!

  • What would you do if every step you make is being doubted by people around you? I hope they realize that they're not making everything easy.

Follow me on Twitter, if you like! Anyway, what was your favorite shot of me? :-D

Should Sexism Matter?

Allow me to share you this video we watched in class before. It's a project on the portrayal of masculinity offered in Disney films.

The battle of the sexes is one of the most controversial issues since time God knows when. Debates on why God created woman from a man's rib has been a source of greater disputes. Some say Eve should be the one to blame for the subordinating treatment for women, in general. This story from the Bible is commonly distinguished as sexist.

Theorists, mostly feminists, say that words should not have more than one meaning. According to them, both sexes should be classified with distinct grammatical terms. They insist on not using nouns and pronouns such as "man" and "he" on both genders. They don't want the language to accord dominion for the mean. But come to think of it, should we devote any chance we live by arguing on who should dominate?

Men and women have their own equal abilities. There are some things that men find hard to do, but are easy and meant for women and vice versa. Each member of the two sexes must learn to appreciate one another. They should not get insecure with what they can't do and bring each other down in the process.

For an instance, the statement "You carry this cause you're a man!" is not really intended to degrade the men. Since women normally seek for help from the men when it comes to laborious activities, the men should at least reach out and should not think that they are condescendingly treated.

On the other hand, the statement "Don't be boisterous, cause you're a woman!" shows what culture a woman must have. Behaving properly is what women must do. No matter how vulgar a girl is, there will always be an instance when her modesty and decorum is tested. That may offend women, but we can't deny the fact that we must pay attention and be cautious of what we say and do.

Grammatical genders should not be reflected for emphasizing prominence over one gender. This is really a lame contention. I don't think we have to mull over what each one says, and criticize them if they say something we think is degrading to either of the genders. This practice will eventually make the world more confused and disorderly.

Our reputation is a valuable possession that we must not take for granted. If it remains undervalued, we run the risk of losing it and eventually letting others mock or make fun of us. Women, as well as the men must be mindful of what they do, because this may result to general perception or impression of what the opposite sex might think about them.

The Disney documentary tells us that even from childhood, we have been watching sexist cartoon movies. I don't think that it was made for children not to watch cartoons anymore. It is for everyone to understand that the world cannot exist without the opposites. From the book Sophie's World, it says that without the constant interplay of opposites, the world would cease to exist.

Think about this: if men weren't dominant, who would protect the women? Who would have the strength to do things that are way too risky? Sociologists claim that men are more level-headed than women, which is why in most decision makings, men have the greater say. They make decisions at the right time when emotions are balanced.

There are also instances when women are dominant. Without women, men may lose track of their emotional aspect of something. Without women, men may have chaotic lives. It's undeniable that women really are the ones who make good boys out of bad boys just like what our mothers do. It may sound cheesy, but it's true and proven. men are somehow afraid of being seen as troublesome by the opposite sex.

Men cannot live without women, and that's a vice versa. Sexism should not be argued upon all the time. No matter how hard we find faults on each members of the opposite sex, we still unquestionably give in to the gender wants. It's nonsense taking time looking for grammatical terms just to avoid sexism.

Both genders are dominant in their own different ways. If we take away the authority of each party, the world would definitely be imbalanced. A woman can take control over one thing, and so as the men. They may not have the same degree of reason, but there will always be one kind of reason that is certain to bind the two.

Do you think sexism should matter?

Katrina's Thought Bubbles: On Style

I got this award from Fashion Facile. Thank you so much for this Tessa. This is my second blog award. I got the first one from Chuck and Dee. I can't wait to have more. In connection to this fashion award, I've gathered these questions about style from Magazines earlier today, and I'll be giving my answers now. So here are the million dollar questions:

HOW DO YOU DEFINE YOUR STYLE?

It's casual, with a tinge of formality. Comfort with style is my fashion mantra. I love combining two colors like gold and black, pink and black/gray, red and black, brown and black or pink and brown. I also love accessorizing!

WHAT IS YOUR DAILY UNIFORM?

I usually wear jeans/leggings, chic top, trinkets to match, and a pair of flats. I love wearing chiffon and other sheer tops. One more thing, I can't leave the house without a bag. It's definitely a necessity for me.

WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER TO BE YOUR PERSONAL TRADEMARK?

I think I'm known for my smart casual attires. I often defy the norm by wearing formal outfit when everyone is just simple, but of course that only happens in ordinary days. I follow rules or dress codes on special occasions.

YOU WOULD NEVER BE CAUGHT WEARING...

A spaghetti/tank/tube top paired with shorty shorts and skirts. I can wear it as a beach wear, but not as a normal daily get up. That outfit reminds me of noontime sexy dancers. No offense about that , but that look is not very flattering. It's just too revealing. Looking like a bombshell is way different from looking like a stripper.

WHICH LABELS ARE HANGING IN YOUR CLOSET?

ASOS, Bayo, Club Monaco, Dorothy Perkins, F&F, H&M, Kamiseta, La Senza, New Look, Massimo Dutti, Plains & Prints, Secret Possessions, Zara, some local fashion brands and ukay-ukay (vintage) stuffs.

ARE YOU A SHOE OR A BAG FIEND?

It's hard to choose between these two irresistible fashion must-haves, but I guess after some deliberation with myself, I'm quite sure that I'm more of a bag than a shoe fiend. I have better number of bags than shoes.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE BEAUTY PRODUCTS?

Avon, The Body Shop, Sunkissed for Active Cosmetics, MAC, Johnson's & Johnson's, L'Oreal Paris, Revlon Colorstay Lipcolor, Nivea Lip Gloss. Honestly, I can leave the house without make up on. I don't even have any facial rituals other than face powder and lipcolor. I'm good to go just with those two.

ONE THING THAT YOU WISH YOU NEVER WORE IN PUBLIC?

I wish I didn't wear high heels before. Everytime I wear one, something bad happens. It's quite embarassing! I'm just not used to that kind of foot wear. It looks sexy on others, but totally not on me. I can only wear it on photo shoots, cause I don't have to walk around a lot.

IF THERE WERE ONE LAST FASHION ITEM THAT YOU WANT TO ADD TO YOUR WARDROBE, IT WOULD BE...

...A genuine crocodile skin Birkin bag by Hermes. I know I couldn't afford it at all. I bet, my life is not even enough to pay for it. But, the statement says "want" not "buy". There's nothing wrong about dreaming, right?

WHICH FASHION ICON'S LIFE WOULD YOU LIKE TO LEAD FOR A YEAR, GIVEN A CHANCE?

Maybe it would be with Katie Holmes and Nicole Kidman internationally; and with Anne Curtis locally. They have superb style and enticing wardrobes. One last choice would be with Kimora Lee Simmons. I wanna try having her clothing empire!

Mystic Nerd

According to WiseGeek, a contraction is a written form in which a number of words are combined into a new word. They are usually represented with an apostrophe to replace the omitted letters that join the words together. Examples: don’t for do not, you're for you are, it’s for it is.

I know this sounds a little nerdy and weird, but what will happen if contractions were not thought of by those brilliant minds? Let's sing this song Hot 'n Cold by Katy Perry without contractions.

"Cause you are hot and you are cold,
You are yes and you are no
You are in and you are out
You are up and you are down
You are wrong when it is right
It is black when it is white
We fight, we break up
We kiss and make up
You do not really want to stay, no
Cause you do not really want to go on..."

Everything will sound longer and absurd if there would be no contractions. Let us thank our grammarian friends for initiating its usage.

I'm corny. Throw rocks at me!

Til my next geeky thoughts, folks!

TAG: 10 Things I Love

I have been tagged by my blogger friend to do this very interesting entry. Thank you Tessa! I was supposed to do this yesterday, but my thesis work got me busy. Enough of that! I actually remember writing a post like this before through A Few of My Favorite Things and The Mystic Collection. I yakked about all tangible materials in those posts. I don't wanna come off as a material girl so instead of talking about them again and again here in my niche, let me share you 10 intangible & valuable things I hold dear in my heart, mind and soul.

That sounded so dramatic. Right, folks? Here goes my list in no particular order:

University of the Philippines

In UP, I've learned how to work under pressure, not to mention poise under pressure. Teachers bombard us with a lot of paper works and stuff, and I thank God I was able to survive them somehow. In this institution, I've gained the confidence I never had before especially in dealing with difficult situations in academic and real life. I've gained strength because of the circumstances I've been through. Most of all, I gained new true friends here.

BA Communication ARTS (BACA)

That image above is our official logo. I love learning about communication -- from the theories to the practices. Communication really is my passion. My favorite communication subjects are Intercultural Communication, Public Relations & Advertising, Organizational Communication and Ethics in Communication. I would like to quote what our professor told our class before, "You might think communication arts is easy, but it's not." Very well-said, Sir!

Writing

Writing my thoughts out are one of those activities that ultimately makes me sane. I love to express myself through writing although I'm a Speech Comm major. That's how I spend most of my solitary moments alongside listening to my favorite music. I love doing it more than anything else. I write poems, journals, essays and even stories. But my stories are so weak. They're not like the good ones. You wouldn't want to read them.

Music

Music is my sanctuary. I consider it a safe place in this troubling world. Just like writing or blogging, it also makes me sane from all kinds of pressure that I experience every single day. Without it, I’d probably have an extensive degree of exhaustion every time I deal with some mind-boggling trials. It’s my preferred companion whenever I want to rest my mind, body and soul. I listen to 80% rock and 20% smooth music.

Simplicity

"Simplicity is about subtracting the obvious, and adding the meaningful." That is a beautiful quote I found while searching for SIMPLICITY images. I was not born with a golden spoon. Now everything is handed to me on a silver platter. I am just a simple and average girl, but I feel happy just living my simple life. I love everything simple, from fashion to lifestyle. I don't know why, but I really feel intimidated with anything extravagant.

Art

With art, I can have great ideas when it comes to fashion, food, lifestyle and even in writing. Art is just everywhere, and I love it. I was really honored when I got the chance to enroll in one of the famous subjects we have at school -- Arts and Humanities. I talked about it in an entry just last year, December 2010. It gained 424 page views, so far. If you want to read it, here's the link -- Creative Juice: My Intense Devotion for Art.

Thoughts

I love to think. When in my deepest and wildest thoughts, I don't want anyone to disturb me. For me, thinking is a lot like dreaming. When someone or something interrupts, it's like going back to sleep to continue your dream. I admit that I get weird sometimes, but of course I don't show it to people. Thinking helps me come in contact with myself. With my thoughts, I can talk to myself. I'd rather do it than talk to senseless people.

Serenity

Because I mostly have troubled thoughts, I love to compose myself by going to places that invite calmness and peace of mind. Serenity for me is bliss. I don't like going to places that are too crowded and noisy. I actually think I'm a little enochlophobic (fear of being in crowds). That explains why I'd rather eat at restaurants than fastfood chains. I just get easily irritated with people moving back and forth when I'm concentrating on something (like eating).

Desires

I have a lot of desires from the materials I want to have, to the things I want to achieve and all that jazz. I want to graduate with flying colors soon. I want to have stable job when I graduate. I want to have a position in an advertising or marketing firm. You know, things like that. Those desires help me strive hard. They inspire me to do good in crafts that can help me get what I've always wanted to have and hold. I certainly hope I can get the desires of my heart someday!

Adventure

Adventure means fun. It is a kind that gives us natural high. It has that certain factor that yields excitement and amusement. When I say adventure, it doesn't only mean going on extreme activities like trekking, bungee jumping, wall-climbing or white water rafting. Adventure can also happen even in choosing what we wear, what we eat, and most especially, what we want to become. By taking risks, I also learn even if it means failing. That's how we grow, right?

How about you, what are those ten things that you love? I'm tagging Ate Gemma, Lavinia, Sergei, Jesse, Shimea and Maxine. Care to do this tag too?

Unattractive Women

Natalie Dee's Property

I'm a girl, and I love my species a big deal. What I mean is I love being part of the ladies loop here on Earth. I can't even imagine myself being a member of the opposite sex. I am more than contented with the gender my Creator has assigned me. I don't have complaints about not being a man instead. Just so you know, the best thing about being born with two X chromosomes is that, we can talk about and do variety of things in different manners. We just have so many options, whether in choosing the clothes we'd like to wear or the jobs we'd love to have. You see, a man mostly gets flak by being in a career path that is predominantly for women. I'm confident enough to say that a woman performing a manly occupation is highly valued than a man doing a woman's job.

But no, I won't talk about how happy I am to be a woman all through out this post, cause I've already done that many times. I've thought of writing something other than that. Despite how satisfied I am to belong in the women's race, I still encounter SOME girl attributes that I think are very unlovely. I don't mean to condescend my own kind, it's just that I feel I have to point those out. Let me ask you this straight, "If you were a boy, what types of girls would probably turn you off?" I totally think that we girls have the best answers for this more than men, since we know so well what are the different characteristics of our kind. I hate to blow your bubble girls, but I'll clue you in some signs that you're getting annoying at times. I'll be handing you over this list of the Ten Most Unattractive Type of Woman from the ladies' perspective. I do believe we have to take heed of this, so we can evaluate ourselves. Let's all together figure out whether we're fortunate enough not to be part of this list. Best of luck to us!

Girls who talk about love too much

Hopeless Romantic.

Take note of the phrase, TOO MUCH. There's nothing wrong about sharing your thoughts about love, just don't overdo it by spreading to everyone that you want a new boyfriend or something. This usually happens to single women who are itching to find their mate. It's unattractive to let others notice that love is your weak point. If your only focus is on finding a mate, you run the risk of coming off as desperate. Learn to live without needing men.

Girls who are too emotional

Emotional Girl.

These girls are usually those always need other people to act as outlet for their emotional baggages. I'm not saying that you shouldn't unload what you feel, it's just that, girls who are too clingy and needy can be pretty irritating. Girls who are depressed all the time are a bummer. As someone says it, this kind of girl burdens other people by bringing them down to her level so she can have a company in her lonely world. Learn to be independent!

Girls who have a lot of enemies

Bullies.

I'm sure you've already encountered women who are a lot like this. They always badmouth other girls so they'll feel good about themselves. They think they're powerful enough because they have bullied others. They might think it's cool to be like this, but it's totally not. This kind of girls are too high-minded that they tend to dominate and downgrade others. Let me ask you, since when did it become pleasant to have a lot of enemies, especially for girls?

Girls who are too conscious with diet

Skinny girl.

This type of girls are those who don't eat a thing, because they want to achieve something. We have to bust the myth that thin is in. This built looks so fragile that something might break even with just one touch. Don't skip meals just to become the "it" girl that you want to be. Don't hesitate to eat, cause the issue of health should matter more than anything else. Just bear in mind that the issue of weight holds little when it comes to beauty.

Girls who bare too much skin

Girl baring too much skin.

Looking like a bombshell is totally different from looking like a stripper! It may be true that formal and modest women rarely make a sound, but who cares right? Being decent doesn't mean you are boring. Why should you worry if you become boring anyway? Well at least you're respected by both sexes, unlike the one who dress up like a slut. Dress how you want to be treated. Dress with self-respect so you'll earn respect in return.

Girls who are good only when there are guys around

Flirts.

There are actually some girls who just flirt too much that they tend to become hypocrite. They evolve into someone as good as an angel in front of the opposite sex in order to gain their admiration, only to find out that it's only their front. There's nothing wrong about trying to impress men, just don't do it at the expense of your same kind. What I mean is, a girl should be congenial to both sexes not only to one.

Girls who don't know anything

Dumb girls.

I hate it when girls don't know about anything, especially about the current events. Girls should be smart, because we are already in the era of independent and intelligent women. Don't get too involved with petty matters like romance and the likes. Be a keen observer, so you won't get ignorant with the things happening around you. Read the news, and other socially relevant articles. Remember, you cook your own goose when you know nothing at all.

Girls who fall in love easily

A girl falling in love easily.

A girl who falls in love a lot with various people and things are repugnant. These girls couldn't control their feelings that they tend to fall for someone even when they're already committed. Being romantic is good, just don't be romantic to every guy you think are worthy of your affection. Be a one-man-woman, so to speak. Don't fall in love that easily, or else members of the opposite sex might use that to take advantage over you. Be careful!

Girls who are untidy

Untidy girls.

Girls should set the example of being clean inside out. We, girls should have proper hygiene because we are the fairer sex. Girls who don't know how to to take care of themselves are a total turn off. I hate it when a girl has a room that is so dirty and disorganized. It's so not woman-like, right? Tell me, who would want to be with a woman who is all stinky and filthy? That actually holds true to both sexes. There's no excuse not to be sanitary.

Girls who are social climbers

Social climber.

Gold-diggers and users are part of this category. This type of girls are those who are trying too hard to fit in the rich and famous class. If I were a boy, I would ditch this kind of girl because they're only after one thing, and that is MONEY. These girls talk nonstop about bucks and possessions. They tend to become greedy and selfish as well. You have to avoid this type of girls especially when you're above average on the salary.

So, have you met girls like those on the list I've dished out? Beware of these types of girls, cause they might wear you out. For me, these girl qualities are up to no good. If you find within yourself that you have attributes included in the list, try your best not to let them linger. It's not too late to change. I'm not a perfect girl either. I have my own faults as well. So with that I say, let's all become role models of a good girl. Let us not be a kind of woman that get into everyone's nerves.

Do you have something to add in my list?
