Welcome Readers!

Welcome to the Mystic Blog of the only Mystic Nymph! I hope you have a blast reading my thoughts, and I hope you drop by again!

Marquee

I'll let you in a little revelation about my favorite usernames in my virtual sites. First is about my Mikimoto Angel pen name. Mikimoto is a famous brand of pearl accessories in America. I first saw that brand in Vogue Magazine. I got mesmerized by that label, and I thought of using it. I just added Angel from my name "Angela". Thus, the formation of Mikimoto Angel.

For my other pen name Mystic Nymph, the word mystic really came from the show Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog. I used to be so hooked to that show. I am also obsessed with mythologies, and nymphs are mythical creatures depicted as beautiful young women who are considered as guardians of objects and places in nature. Thus, the evolution of Mystic Nymph.

Boredom Busters

Not being in school, means being in a rut! Being busy about something is always better than being busy doing nothing. I actually miss the feeling of being swamped with academic stuff. I miss whining about it, I should say. Just staying at home doing the same thing over and over again is beginning to kill me. I need to have some fish to fry. In other words, I'm dying to be employed. It really is true that human beings never get satisfied with what they have, where they are and whatnot. I'm cringing, cause I'm guilty as sin.

You see, I have this place all for myself every weekdays from 8am to 5pm. Aside from trying so hard to revise my thesis manuscript, all I do is just surf the web, download/watch movies and TV series, listen to my music library, think of what to cook for lunch, work on my household assignment, stare at oblivion, and worry about my safety. I'm like a slob! Those activities may not be exhausting, but they're unproductive. But anyhow, now I'll be sharing again the things that bust the boredom out of my system.

FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL: "Devastated Peter takes a Hawaii vacation in order to deal with recent break-up with his TV star girlfriend, Sarah. Little does he know Sarah's traveling to the same resort as her ex ... and she's bringing along her new boyfriend."

WAITING FOR FOREVER: "A Hollywood-set romantic tale of a guy who is content to live his life without a job yet with the love of his life, a young actress."

THE LYING GAME: "The show follows Emma (Chando), a kind-hearted foster kid who cant catch a break. She finds out she has an identical twin sister, Sutton (also played by Chando), who unlike Emma was adopted by wealthy parents and is seemingly living an ideal life."

MAMA's HOME MADE GOODNESS

PUNK GOES POP 4

uTorrent

JUNIOR MASTER CHEF PINOY EDITION

PINOY BIG BROTHER UNLIMITED (Season 4)

AMERICAN HORROR STORY: "A family of three move from Boston to Los Angeles as a means of reconciling their past anguish. They move to a restored mansion, unaware that the home is haunted."

Be my buddy. Add me in your circle. Check out my profile.

I just finished downloading Community Season 1 and 2 -- Season 3 coming up next. I'm also currently downloading some episodes from Grimm (NBC), Once Upon a Time (ABC) and Teen Wolf (MTV). Let's see if I'll get hooked to these shows as well. I'll let you know.

In other news, I had a great day yesterday with my buddies. Hollers out to Ate Jael, Maicie, Christine, Ed Ralph, Ate Cyndi and Ella. I enjoyed some serious and mature conversation I had with Ate Jael and Ed Ralph. The dinner was also fantastic with all the hearty laughs and inane talks. I'm so glad I got to be close to these crazy and fun guys before I left UP. When my batchmates graduated, I promised to myself that I will be a full-fledged anti-social creature. However, they came into my life and saved me from solitude. That sounds so melodramatic, but it's really what I feel for them. I'm looking forward to be with them in the year-ender gathering we're planning to hold in Samal this 11th of December. I hope Mom allows me to have a sleepover somewhere this time.

Sonic Boom: Rainy Monday

Between Us - Peter Bradley Adams

Hey stranger when may i call you my own?
I know i don't know you, but there's somewhere I've seen you
before.
Whatever your name is, whatever you do
there's nothing between us I'm willing to loose

Just call me if ever our paths may collide.
I want you to call me under these darkening skies.
whoever you love, whoever you kiss
the ones in between us I'm willing to miss

now I'm drifting out over deep oceans
and the tide won't take me back in
and these desperate nights I'll call you again and again

More of You - Mozella

So it goes without saying, that I'm hooked on you,

And by now I'm out of mind with this self-abuse,
I guess I should have looked out for myself,
I guess that I could have found someone else,
But I never met anyone, who's loving made me so damn crazy,

Everything little thing that you do,
Every single word you say,
Every time you’re looking away,
you got begging for more of you, more of you,
Everytime I'm ready to go,
Everytime I think I'm back in control,
Something gets my heart and my soul
and I'll be begging for more of you, more of you.

Please Don't Leave Quite Yet - Adam Agin

Underneath my bed there’s a raincoatPacked with scarfs and books Just go look
But don’t let the storm slow you down
No honey, don’t let the storm slow us down

The sound the furnish makes irritates you
I promise by next spring we’ll replace it
But dont let the wind run you out
No honey, dont let the wind run us down
It’ll run us down
I want it to get better I swear
I’ll work to make it better
So please don’t leave quite yet
Please don’t leave quite yet
Please don’t leave quite yet.
Don’t Leave Don’t Leave.

It's raining at this very moment in Davao City, and I'm listening to these lovely songs. I'm glad to say that I just had my last exam today. I hope I passed all my subjects, so that all I have to think about is my thesis. I had a bad plenary experience last week. Good thing my panelists and adviser gave me a chance to graduate this semester if I comply with my incomplete research output by November 5. That would be next month. Anyway, I hope you like the songs I've shared today. This is something very short again. I hope to be back on track with my oozing blogging juices by mid-November.

Sonic Boom: Katie Herzig

Jack and Jill

She wore that dress like it was a Saturday
Pretty as a summer rose picked in the morning
And he held her hand like it was a mystery
One he couldn't quite believe
Just walking with him
They were high up on a hill
Something to say, and daylight to kill
Time slipped away, the way that it will

Hey Na Na

Hey nana hey nana
Hey nana hey nana
Hey nana hey nana
Hey nana hey hey

You eyes are like a blue sky, blue sky, blue
You're floating in the fountain, in the fountain of youth
I bet you have an ocean, secret little potion
I bet you have a lover who's as fine as you

Hey Mr. Love, Mr. Big Love, Love

Crazy

What have they done to the birds and the bees?
Cradle was dropped, the nest make believe
And they're selling their souls for the purpose of losing it all.

What have they done to the cracks in the walls?
The world has been painted to cover it all
And everyone's afraid to admit that they're getting old.

These adorable songs from Katie Herzig have been constantly played on top volume in my playlist. She's my new favorite female artist alongside Brooke Waggoner.

What new tunes would you like to share, folks?

Sonic Boom: Brooke Waggoner

Took this photo last week.

So I'm back from my unannounced hiatus. My last post Child's Play: BYG Belle, which I wrote more than a week ago, got more than twenty comments for the first time. It never would have gotten that much of attention if I didn't leave my blog for nine days. LOL! Big thanks to those who managed to visit and follow Mystic Nymph, even when I didn't have time to pay them a visit in return. Anyway, I'll be giving you a short synopsis on how my past week went just in case you're interested to know.

Last week was one of the worst in my scholastic life. I had my practicum & written exam in PE, thesis defense and a report in STS class. I was dog-tired that much! I got a bundle of nerves the whole time because of the pressure, lack of sleep and whatnot. I even messed up in my report and defense because my speech anxiety got the better of me! I felt embarrassed, but dwelling on it won't help me graduate so I let it pass that way. I just did things to "de-stress" me like pigging out and watching PLL.

I'm so hooked on Pretty Little Liars! I've been catching up on it since last week, and now I'm on the 18th episode of their pilot season. I love it because it's not your usual bitchy and girly girl TV series. I don't know why, but I'm really into mystery stories like that. I'm not a good judge of shows, so I may be wrong but personally, PLL has become my favorite foreign drama next to Heroes. If you ask me about the characters, I like Aria and Spencer but I think Emily (Shay Mitchell) is hotter. I wanna dress like them! Their nifty outfits are to die for! Their styles are wicked!

Aside from the story, I also love its soundtrack. One of the best songs in their collection are from Brooke Waggoner. Here are two of my fave songs from her.

Fresh Pair of Eyes

'Cause I want to be seen
With a fresh pair of eyes
The single white tree
In a black hood of disguise

I want, I want to be seen
With a fresh pair of eyes
The single, the single white tree
In a black hood of disguise

I miss God, I miss God
I miss God, I miss God

Heal for the Honey

Points of light
Shootin' through the tree-stained vines
It draws me in
To catch a fistful of wind and chime

But all day long I heal for the honey
Waitin' for the one I love
The noons are hot with heartache aplenty
I'm lovesick and undone

I bet my future Sonic Boom posts would still be from PLL. Their OST has been dominating my play list these days. You might want to check it out as well. They're very nice! Okay, I need to have some grub now. I'm so hungry I could eat a horse. Au revoir!

Sonic Boom: Rock Songs

It was like more than a month when I last shared you some tunes here in Sonic Boom. Did you miss it? I bet not. Haha! The last song I posted was Arctic Monkeys’ track from their Leave Before the Lights Come On EP called Baby I’m Yours. I like that song a lot, because of the folk rock melody it leaves in my ears. My boyfriend also sings along with it now, because I’ve been pestering him to listen to it. I told him we’re going to play it on our wedding reception. VAVOOM!

I’ve been having a dose of smooth music lately so that I get an excuse to play them using our DVD player in the living room, and that made me miss rock so much. As I mentioned before, my family isn’t into rock music. In fact, they despise it. That situation made my heart grow fonder for my most-loved genre. It’s been a long while since I last had a rock music sound trip, so now I’ll be spoiling myself with it through this post. I’ll be sharing you three of my favourite rock songs from then and now. Here they are:

Juneau – Funeral for a Friend

Heights – Eyes Set to Kill

Sexual Man Chocolate – Attack! Attack!

I love Juneau because it’s very easy to the ears. The melody is also very catchy and captivating. About Eyes Set to Kill, I like it mainly because of their lovely lady lead vocals. It makes me believe that I can also be a band singer because I think I can dress and sing like her. Please just support my illusion. LOL! Their songs are not very hard to sing, well except for the screams of course. About Sexual Man Chocolate, I absolutely love its piano intro. The breakdowns are also superb. My boyfriend explained how Attack! Attack! Might have done it, and I’m pretty much amazed.

Check out my other posts about rock music: Invigorating the Soul and Supersonic Explosion.

That’s it for now. Bonne nuit tout le monde!

Sonic Boom: Saturday Music

I just finished downloading Arctic Monkey's Discography. What a relief! I've been waiting for it to get done for two weeks already. That's what you get when you're a Smart Bro Prepaid user. You will have to suffer long enough even though you're only downloading a few megabytes worth of file. I almost gave up on it, and tried to cancel it. Good thing my conscience forced me to cool down. Enough of that nonsense muttering. It's not good for a beautiful Saturday morning, right?

For today's Sonic Boom, I'll be sharing you what I'm listening to as of the moment. But before that, let me say something I've learned about Arctic Monkeys. I first heard about this band from my ever favorite radio station NU107. According to Wikipedia, AM is an English indie psychedelic/garage rock band from UK formed in 2002. I really like their lead vocalist's (Alex Turner) voice quality, although he pretty much sounds like the front man of The Fratellis.

This band's music is just so perfect for road trips. The discography I downloaded includes the following albums:

  • Brianstorm - EP
  • I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor - EP
  • Teddy Picker - EP
  • Who The Fuck Are The Arctic Monkeys - EP
  • WhenThe Sun Goes Down - EP
  • Leave Before The Lights Come On - EP
  • Fluorescent Adolescent - EP

And now, here's Baby I'm Yours from Arctic Monkeys. It's officially my new favorite love song. I love the romantic lyrics and melody. It also suits for a song I want to play for my wedding. I dedicate this to my boyfriend. Enjoy the song, folks!

Baby I'm Yours - Arctic Monkeys

"Baby, I'm yours (baby, I'm yours)
And I'll be yours (yours) until the stars fall from the sky,
Yours (yours) until the rivers all run dry
In other words, until I die

Baby, I'm yours (baby, I'm yours)
And I'll be yours (yours) until the sun no longer shines,
Yours (yours) until the poets run out of rhyme
In other words, until the end of time

I'm gonna stay right here by your side,
Do my best to keep you satisfied
Nothin' in the world can drive me away
'Cause every day, you'll hear me say..."

You can have those albums in your playlist by downloading them through this link. I hope the song I shared today pleases you as well. Have a good day ahead everyone!

Sonic Boom

I'll never get sick of music. In fact, I can calmly spend my entire time just listening to the songs I love. I can't live without music. I know that sounds so trite, but it's true. You can take away fashion and photography, but leave music alone to me. Living in a world without those tunes to match my mood just won't work out for me. I know someone there shares the same passion. Right, Ciovic?

Until now, I still couldn't get a hang of the 30 Day Song Challenge. It made me appreciate my first love even more. It helped me enliven every memory associated with each tune. And because I don't want to stop being a music fiend just by completing the challenge, I've decided to make posting songs a part of my blogging habit. Thus, my new blog feature called Sonic Boom.

The first song that I'll be sharing for Sonic Boom is part of the Official Motion Picture Soundtrack of the movie Princess Diaries. It's one of my favorite songs about having a positive outlook. About PD, I think it's the best Ann Hathaway film I've seen. Her innocent image is much better. I don't like her when she bares her body. It's not even that good. 'Nuff said. Here's Miracles Happen by Myra.

Miracles Happen - Myra

"You showed me faith is not blind
I don't need wings to help me fly
Miracles happen, once in a while
When you believe
(miracles happen)
You showed me dreams come to life
That taking a chance on us was right
All things will come with a little time
When You believe..."

I know it's a rare song choice from me, because I mostly listen to head bangin' and roof rockin' tunes. I just like the message of the song, and I love Princess Diaries. I hope you look forward to more of the songs that I'll be sharing. Tune in again next time only here on Sonic Boom. I'm signing off.

day 19 – a song from your favorite album

This task is definitely giving me a headache, literally. I have a lot of favorite albums from different music genre, and it’s hard to choose only one among them. I’m in two minds whether to post this or that. I tried to make up my mind, and it seems like I can only shilly shally. So to stop myself from ranting about this simple stuff, I’ve decided to just post one song from each of my three favorite albums. I guess that would be much better.

The first song is from the album Old World Underground: Where are you? The song’s called On a Slow Night by one of the bands that I love because of the female vocalist – Metric. I like this song because it sounds smooth and pleasing despite the electric guitar accompaniment. It can also pass for a song that makes me fall asleep.

On a Slow Night – Metric

"True beautiful one
What have you gone and done
I can see all your moves are new
Tell me what did that salesman do to you

That catalogue replaced
The fine mind behind your face
No human trio can compete
When that three way mirror meets your eye

On a slow night
On a slow night..."

The second song is from the album Season of Poison from a synthpop/electronic band, Shiny Toy Guns. The song’s called Ghost Town. I love this album because almost all the tracks sound good. About Ghost Town, I like it mainly because it’s funky, and it’s not heavy. I can listen to it with family who’s not into rock music unlike me.

Ghost Town – Shiny Toy Guns

"Everyone living in ghost town
Everyone buried in waste land
We dont want to
We dont have to be like that
Living in ghost town
All the boys shout it out loud now
All the girls scream it out louder
We dont want to
We dont have to live like that
Oooooooh oooooohhhhhhhh

Hold me back you know were never gonna back down
Hold me back you know were never gonna back down
Were dead in this ghost town
You better let go so let go of me
Were dead in this ghost town
You better let go so let go let go of me..."

The third song is called Smokahontas by Attack! Attack! from their self-titled album. I just love all the songs from this band to beat! I still couldn’t get enough of their party-core music. For me, they’re the best modern band. I salute them for trying to experiment on their craft. That makes them the most popular band combining heavy metal and electronic. Long live rock!

Smokahontas – Attack! Attack!

"I'm alone in a crowded room

Conversations that I'll never remember
Trapped in a reality
That shouldn't be, that shouldn't be

Show me the way, allow me to see cause my heart is broken
Be my escape, allow me to hear with a word unspoken
Oh, I am separated from the one I was made to love

I'm pathetic and lost
They are so separating
I am no longer in control
You are upon me..."

TAG: 10 Things I Love

I have been tagged by my blogger friend to do this very interesting entry. Thank you Tessa! I was supposed to do this yesterday, but my thesis work got me busy. Enough of that! I actually remember writing a post like this before through A Few of My Favorite Things and The Mystic Collection. I yakked about all tangible materials in those posts. I don't wanna come off as a material girl so instead of talking about them again and again here in my niche, let me share you 10 intangible & valuable things I hold dear in my heart, mind and soul.

That sounded so dramatic. Right, folks? Here goes my list in no particular order:

University of the Philippines

In UP, I've learned how to work under pressure, not to mention poise under pressure. Teachers bombard us with a lot of paper works and stuff, and I thank God I was able to survive them somehow. In this institution, I've gained the confidence I never had before especially in dealing with difficult situations in academic and real life. I've gained strength because of the circumstances I've been through. Most of all, I gained new true friends here.

BA Communication ARTS (BACA)

That image above is our official logo. I love learning about communication -- from the theories to the practices. Communication really is my passion. My favorite communication subjects are Intercultural Communication, Public Relations & Advertising, Organizational Communication and Ethics in Communication. I would like to quote what our professor told our class before, "You might think communication arts is easy, but it's not." Very well-said, Sir!

Writing

Writing my thoughts out are one of those activities that ultimately makes me sane. I love to express myself through writing although I'm a Speech Comm major. That's how I spend most of my solitary moments alongside listening to my favorite music. I love doing it more than anything else. I write poems, journals, essays and even stories. But my stories are so weak. They're not like the good ones. You wouldn't want to read them.

Music

Music is my sanctuary. I consider it a safe place in this troubling world. Just like writing or blogging, it also makes me sane from all kinds of pressure that I experience every single day. Without it, I’d probably have an extensive degree of exhaustion every time I deal with some mind-boggling trials. It’s my preferred companion whenever I want to rest my mind, body and soul. I listen to 80% rock and 20% smooth music.

Simplicity

"Simplicity is about subtracting the obvious, and adding the meaningful." That is a beautiful quote I found while searching for SIMPLICITY images. I was not born with a golden spoon. Now everything is handed to me on a silver platter. I am just a simple and average girl, but I feel happy just living my simple life. I love everything simple, from fashion to lifestyle. I don't know why, but I really feel intimidated with anything extravagant.

Art

With art, I can have great ideas when it comes to fashion, food, lifestyle and even in writing. Art is just everywhere, and I love it. I was really honored when I got the chance to enroll in one of the famous subjects we have at school -- Arts and Humanities. I talked about it in an entry just last year, December 2010. It gained 424 page views, so far. If you want to read it, here's the link -- Creative Juice: My Intense Devotion for Art.

Thoughts

I love to think. When in my deepest and wildest thoughts, I don't want anyone to disturb me. For me, thinking is a lot like dreaming. When someone or something interrupts, it's like going back to sleep to continue your dream. I admit that I get weird sometimes, but of course I don't show it to people. Thinking helps me come in contact with myself. With my thoughts, I can talk to myself. I'd rather do it than talk to senseless people.

Serenity

Because I mostly have troubled thoughts, I love to compose myself by going to places that invite calmness and peace of mind. Serenity for me is bliss. I don't like going to places that are too crowded and noisy. I actually think I'm a little enochlophobic (fear of being in crowds). That explains why I'd rather eat at restaurants than fastfood chains. I just get easily irritated with people moving back and forth when I'm concentrating on something (like eating).

Desires

I have a lot of desires from the materials I want to have, to the things I want to achieve and all that jazz. I want to graduate with flying colors soon. I want to have stable job when I graduate. I want to have a position in an advertising or marketing firm. You know, things like that. Those desires help me strive hard. They inspire me to do good in crafts that can help me get what I've always wanted to have and hold. I certainly hope I can get the desires of my heart someday!

Adventure

Adventure means fun. It is a kind that gives us natural high. It has that certain factor that yields excitement and amusement. When I say adventure, it doesn't only mean going on extreme activities like trekking, bungee jumping, wall-climbing or white water rafting. Adventure can also happen even in choosing what we wear, what we eat, and most especially, what we want to become. By taking risks, I also learn even if it means failing. That's how we grow, right?

How about you, what are those ten things that you love? I'm tagging Ate Gemma, Lavinia, Sergei, Jesse, Shimea and Maxine. Care to do this tag too?
