Welcome Readers!

Welcome to the Mystic Blog of the only Mystic Nymph! I hope you have a blast reading my thoughts, and I hope you drop by again!

Marquee

I'll let you in a little revelation about my favorite usernames in my virtual sites. First is about my Mikimoto Angel pen name. Mikimoto is a famous brand of pearl accessories in America. I first saw that brand in Vogue Magazine. I got mesmerized by that label, and I thought of using it. I just added Angel from my name "Angela". Thus, the formation of Mikimoto Angel.

For my other pen name Mystic Nymph, the word mystic really came from the show Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog. I used to be so hooked to that show. I am also obsessed with mythologies, and nymphs are mythical creatures depicted as beautiful young women who are considered as guardians of objects and places in nature. Thus, the evolution of Mystic Nymph.

GT: Techie Talk

I’m finally part of the GT loop. Welcome me with open arms, folks. I know I’m already four topics late, but there’s no harm about that, right girlfriends? I’m still groping on how I can connect with other girls who are into GT, so that they would also know my ideas on a given topic. But, that’s not a big problem to fret about. I know my girls will help me out.

This week’s topic is technology, which is actually my blind spot. I don’t fancy any other thingamajigs aside from camera. I’ve mentioned in my wish list before that I badly want to a DSLR camera, but until now I still don’t have one. I’m a shutterbug, but I don’t own a camera. It’s like being a warrior without a sword – having the skill without the equipment.

Hopefully, I can get hold of the desire of my heart this year. I’ve been pestering my father to buy me one, and he said he will give me what I want before graduation. I still have to wait a little longer, but it’s just OK. I have to be patient, because my favor’s not very easy to get. Cross fingers for the arrival of the photography buff’s best friend! Promises are NOT made to be broken, right Papa?

Going back to techie talk, there’s this camera that has been making me drool to death for months already. I know we can’t afford to purchase those luxurious stuffs, so I always go for the more affordable ones. I don’t usually dwell too much on the things that are quite impossible for us to reach. In that case, I think it’ll just be fine if I dream on having this not-so-expensive entry-level DSLR cam – the Nikon D3000.

Here are the key features of my much-coveted Nikon D3000. I got these details from this site.

  • 10.2megapixel CCD sensor. Even in low light the image resolution makes easy work of big prints and sharp enlargements.
  • 11-point autofocus system. Keeps even the fastest moving subjects in focus, often the biggest challenge for compact cameras
  • Fast response. The start up time and shutter lag means you can capture the shot almost instantly, without the delayed response time common of compact cameras
  • Guide mode. Simply the easiest way to get great pictures, without having to read the manual
  • 3-inch TFT. With pictures this good, you will need a great screen to share them with friends and family
  • EXPEED image processing. Exclusive system to deliver rich, bright results close to what you saw with your own eyes
  • Picture Controls. Lets you set the look and mood of your images before you shoot
  • 3 fps continuous shooting allows you to capture fast-moving action at 3 frames per second
  • Intuitive ergonomics. We challenge anyone to pick up a D3000 and it not to feel part of your hand
  • Stylish discrete appearance. The D3000 does not become a barrier between you and your subject, resulting in natural looking expressions
  • Compact, light and durable. It won’t fit in your pocket, but with pictures this good you will find a shoulder to hang it on
The downside of this camera is that it can only take pictures but not videos, but I don't mind. Photography is my thing, not video documentation.

It will be fine for me if I get deprived of those cool gadgets like laptop, iPOD, iPAD, or QWERTY phone, just as long as I can have this camera, at last! I even told my Mom, “It’s ok if you don’t give me new clothes, new shoes, or whatever. A camera is all I want for now.” I sound too desperate, right? I hope that desperation I got there will still pay off in the end. I’m just LOL-ing around, Mom!

Desires of a Mystic Nymph (Wishlist)

How does it feel to have the time of your life by having everything your heart wants right before your very eyes? Let me guess. In my mind’s eye, the feeling would probably be that awesome that you won’t find the perfect words to define what you feel. Your emotions would possibly whirl like a hurricane. Nothing beats the sensation of turning your unrelenting yearnings into tangible sophistication. I can’t surely wait for the time when I can finally tell myself, “I got what I want, now I couldn’t ask for anything more!” But I know that it would be impossible. Humans have incorrigible longing for many things. I’ve already come to grips with that a long time ago. Of course we won’t delve on that matter. So before we go down deep, let me share you these things that are bugging me because I badly want them, and I still don’t have them.

First on the list is a Nikon or Canon DSLR Camera. I don’t mind which model as long as the quality is great especially for a beginner like me. I would raise my eyebrows if you say you don’t care about these thingamajigs. I mean, who wouldn’t want to have one? Yes, I know photography is getting really overrated with everyone wanting to document everything they do. People in this “state-of-the-art” generation venture into food photography (some call as foodnography), fashion photography and many other photography thingy that I don’t know how to label. This modern-day hobby is so classy that it pulls everyone who wants to revamp their civilized existence by learning it.

I want a Little Black Dress to hang in my closet. I think I have to erase the article “a” cause I honestly want an overwhelming number of elegant and chic LBDs. Just looking at them from afar seems as if I’m feasting my eyes on them. These are a girl must-have, and owning even one is enough. But of course, a fashion fiend like me doesn’t want to settle for just “enough” if not because of some monetary constraints. We’re not that wealthy and living high off the hog that’s why I still can’t afford to purchase many of those. If you want to perk yourself up with those stylish dresses, you have to invest a lot of money. We’re talking about fashionable dresses here, and they’re costly they can burn your wallet that instant. I actually don’t have an LBD. Criticisms are welcome. Kidding aside! Not having it makes me feel I’ve cramped my style. I just have a Little Pink Dress and Little Black-and-White Dress. What a bore!

For the year 2011 and beyond, I want my fancy for rubber shoes, doll shoes and sandals to tone down. I’d like to strut in modish comfort with loafers that have metallic particulars. I’m just so head-over-heels in love with detailed slip-ons. I crave for GEOX Breathes. According to its advertorial, it combines a micro perforated rubber sole and the breathable waterproof membrane. I know it is way too expensive, so I would be eager to buy any shoe that looks like it at a reasonable price. I also don’t mind wearing those trendy Oxford lace-up booties, platform heels and leather wedges only when I’m in the appropriate place or occasion.

I want some more additions to my casual wardrobe. I drool over Bow-neck tops, Chiffon tops and dresses, lace tops, Lumberjack flannel vests, zippered sweater dresses, Harem pants, black patent leather over-sized shoulder bags and classy scarves for layering. I want to look edgy with attires and accessories that are minimal but modern. I’d probably look prettier on those items. Don’t mind my over confidence (LOL)! Well, I hope Santa grants my wishes this season or maybe next year. I’ve listed a lot of things, but I’m pretty sure I still have all the time in the world to reward myself with all those delightful possessions. In God’s time!
