Welcome Readers!

Welcome to the Mystic Blog of the only Mystic Nymph! I hope you have a blast reading my thoughts, and I hope you drop by again!

Marquee

I'll let you in a little revelation about my favorite usernames in my virtual sites. First is about my Mikimoto Angel pen name. Mikimoto is a famous brand of pearl accessories in America. I first saw that brand in Vogue Magazine. I got mesmerized by that label, and I thought of using it. I just added Angel from my name "Angela". Thus, the formation of Mikimoto Angel.

For my other pen name Mystic Nymph, the word mystic really came from the show Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog. I used to be so hooked to that show. I am also obsessed with mythologies, and nymphs are mythical creatures depicted as beautiful young women who are considered as guardians of objects and places in nature. Thus, the evolution of Mystic Nymph.

New Arrivals at Sneaker Club

Located at Level 2 Abreeza Mall

In my usual casual days at school, I mainly seek for the comforts of flats and sneakers to help me move about easily. I've always loved flats because they make me feel utterly comfortable since I love strutting, and heels don't make me feel that wayYou see, UP Mindanao is a place that requires its students to don a laid-back ensemble, and athletic footwear are definitely perfect for it. If you don't want to feel free and relaxed while catching up for the next UP Ikot ride, then you should consider fitting in a comfy pair.

Those pairs from Nike totally grabbed my attention, not just because of the NEW ARRIVALS in ALL CAPS, but also because of the style. I love the Nike sneaker in Green most especially. Another brand that caught me was Onitsuka Tiger. I'm not familiar with the brand at all, but when I Googled it, I gave it an instant liking. I love its striped Mexico 66 Line, which is actually the most famous brand of Onitsuka Tiger shoes. Good thing Sneaker Club have them. If I win this contest, I'd pick Onitsuka Tiger for sure!

To my fellow UP Mindanao students and to everyone reading my blog, I highly recommend this newest fashion lifestyle shop located at the 2nd Level of Abreeza Ayala Mall -- SNEAKER CLUB. I was surprised to know that it's the only store in Davao City that carries Onitsuka Tiger. Not only that, you can also choose from different brands like Adidas, New Balance, Nike Sportswear and VANS. What are you waiting for, head on to Sneaker Club and grab a pair this instant!

Train of Thoughts

This is my new blog header. How do you like it? I really love creating stuff like this.

I'm having this stupid blogger's block again, and it's totally giving me a lot of stress like it's all there is to live for. It's a big deal that it actually caused me to have bruxism which is a medical term for teeth-grinding. What the fudge! Another source of anxiety I had was when I found out that one of my Facebook friends actually used my four year old blog name as her online shop's site name. What a copy cat! I freaked out and seethed! I didn't want to engage in a petty quarrel, so I confronted her in the NICEST way possible. I told her this:

Hello there namesake! Thanks for showing your appreciation towards my blog name (which is Mystic Nymph), and even using it as your Facebook username. My blog just turned four last December 10. If you want to visit my blog, here's the URL: http://mikimotoangel.blogspot.com/ I also have a Facebook Page that you can find in this link:https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mystic-Nymph-Blogspot/159620428950

It may seem like I sounded such a bitch by lifting up my name, but I'm just telling her the truth in a decent way. I dealt with it constructively. I'm pretty sure that I am the original Mystic Nymph. And besides, this name  is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Philippines License. She's lucky I'm not some kind of a whore who would hold out for her and curse her like she's the most evil person in the world. I'm assuming  she still haven't read my personal message, because I still haven't received a reply from her.

I could use a break from that scary bit so, I let myself loose at Abreeza Ayala Mall (despite the rainy day) and had some unforgettable gastronomic trip with my boyfriend. We also bumped into some of my friends. What a small world! It was nice seeing you there Maicie, Regina, Christine and Tessa! Ciovic and I had our scrumptious lunch at Bigby's Cafe and Restaurant. We feasted upon Belly Busters Food Platter. It consists of "The ultimate combo of their famous barbecued babyback ribs, grilled rodeo chops and smoky pork belly, served in one heaping platter with garlic rice, buttered veggies and crispy onion rings." What a blast!

I now present you our photos...

I love this photo even though it's hazy.

We strolled and window shopped for more than an hour, and ate again. We snacked on McDonald's Large Fries, Apple Pie and hot coffee. We definitely spoiled our tummies today. This day is like Ciovic's pre-birthday celebration. He's turning 23 on Christmas Day.

Postscript: Please support my boyfriend's band HIGHWAY DRIVE by liking their Facebook Page. They are also the one and only Davao band who made it to the Top 12 Breakthrough Act finalist of Y! Rocks Philippines. They gave pride to our city, I should say. They got to play on the same stage with some of the country's rock music icons like Salamin, Ney Dimaculangan of 6 Cycle Mind and Ebe Dancel of Sugarfree last December 8, 2011 at SM City Davao Parking Lot C. I'll give you the link of their video performance once Y! Rocks releases it. I can't wait to watch it!

To my followers and new visitors, I apologize if I haven't payed your blog a visit lately. I was just too bummed these past few days. I will surely make it up to you as soon as my system gets back to normal again.

Gastronomy: Food and Friends

My new girl buddies (Jael and Maicie) and I had our sort of "sem-ender activity" last week. I’ve got to know them just months ago, and it felt like our friendship has already existed for such a long time. I can be my bizarre self when I’m with them, and I’m glad that they always make me feel like I belong since I’m new to their group. If not for them, I would have become a loner in my last sem in UP Min. We have so many things in common, and as we mulled over our similarities, we found out that the three of us consider FOOD as our top de-stresser.

We went to Abreeza Ayala Mall, because Maicie insisted. It was her first time there so we gave her a chance to see the much-talked about mall in Davao. LOL! We searched for a nice place to feed our starving stomachs, and decided to dine at Pancake House instead. I ordered their Jumbo House Burger, Maicie had their Blueberry Pancake and Jael tried their Spaghetti Set with Mushroom Soup. There was nothing special with the ambience of the joint, but I honestly think that the Abreeza branch was better than their branches from other malls.

The Jumbo House Burger
It looks small in the photo, but it was really big. I needed help from my girls to gobble this all up. I could say this was one of the best-tasting burgers I’ve had. The cheese, beef patty and bacon were so delicious. I was also very delighted with the generous amount veggies and French fries. Two thumbs up for this dish!

Special Spaghetti Set with Cream of Mushroom Soup

This was Ate Jael’s order. I didn’t like the spaghetti, because it was not that saucy. I loved the sandwich and the mushroom soup though. That’s what friends are for. We have conjugal properties even on food! Haha.

Maicie’s Blueberry Pancake

After Pancake House, we had another food indulgence at my beloved spot… at Zabadani Café. We totally had carbo overload that day, but we didn’t mind it at all. We thought we needed that a lot. I wanted to spoil myself since I've been really beat the whole semester, though I’ve never really tucked myself away from my ultimate stress reliever despite my busy scholastic life. At Zab, we order Grilled Cheese Oreganao (for me), Bubble Milk Tea (for me and ate Jael), Beef Kabsa (for ate Jael), Beef Squares and Mochaccino (for Maicie). Here are our shots…

My Grilled Cheese Oregano. I wasn’t able to take another shot of this because the camera ran out of battery. We weren’t able to take photos of our beverages.

Because we love food big time, we came up with an idea of setting up a gastronomic meet every month. We kicked off our plan that day, and our next stop would be at TGIF! It’s time for me to save some moolah (Off topic and weird, but I can imagine myself singing this line like Jessy from New Girl). Before I let out my over excitement on that matter, let me show you the rest of the photos we took.

We couldn’t get enough of Sophia (the little girl from Zab) and Ramadeey’s (the uber adorable Persian cat from Zab) extreme cuteness! Pia was such a sweet kiddo because she loved hugging Ate Jael and brushing my hair. It was like she knew us quite well that she ran straight to us the moment we went in. One thing we noticed with her was that she tend to hit us, and one thing she doesn’t know is that I get so scared with tantrum kids. Maybe she just felt that comfortable with our presence. But nevertheless, she’s still very charming! I hope to see her again next time.

Opening Soon at Abreeza

The much talked about shopping mall complex located at J.P. Laurel Avenue has just opened. It's actually the first Ayala Mall here in Mindanao, and I'm so glad that the owners have first chosen Davao City for their business. I know this is a very late news, but I just can't help but blog about it. I haven't been there though, cause I don't want to drop by in that luxurious universe without some bucks in my pocket. I don't want to end up just roaming around there, window shopping. That would be so frustrating, right? I got really frantic to know that the famous fashion and food stores in Manila are set to open in Abreeza. Here's what I got from Mindanaoan Blog. I hope they won't mind my repost.

I can't wait to try those new food joints for my food blog series Gastronomy. I'm also happy that my favorite fashion brand Dorothy Perkins is already within my reach. I hope H&M will also open soon. Go where the breeze takes you. There are just so many things in store for everyone in Abreeza. Those new and exciting things make me wish that I could get a job this instant. This is just the beginning of a more industrialized Davao City. I've also read from Weird's Eye View that a 12-storey high hotel (Kukun) and a 30-storey high residential condominium (Alveo) are also soon to rise within the complex. That is a good news for our city, because it will surely boost our tourism and economic growth. Don't you just love Davao even more?
