Welcome Readers!

Welcome to the Mystic Blog of the only Mystic Nymph! I hope you have a blast reading my thoughts, and I hope you drop by again!

I'll let you in a little revelation about my favorite usernames in my virtual sites. First is about my Mikimoto Angel pen name. Mikimoto is a famous brand of pearl accessories in America. I first saw that brand in Vogue Magazine. I got mesmerized by that label, and I thought of using it. I just added Angel from my name "Angela". Thus, the formation of Mikimoto Angel.

For my other pen name Mystic Nymph, the word mystic really came from the show Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog. I used to be so hooked to that show. I am also obsessed with mythologies, and nymphs are mythical creatures depicted as beautiful young women who are considered as guardians of objects and places in nature. Thus, the evolution of Mystic Nymph.

Child’s Play: Graduation Outfit

What I wore on Graduation Day:
Dress – Sabella RTW
Shoes – Mendrez
Bag – G by Guess
Bangle – SM Accessories
Earrings – Gift from Mom
Sablay (Sash) – Hablon

Everything that I wore that day (except for the bag) was Pinoy made -- from the dress, shoes, bangle and Sablay.

Here’s a quick post before I’ll have my hiatus again. It’ll just be a short-lived break anyway, since I’m going to be busy processing matters for my “job seeking escapade” this week. And oh, I will also be one of the facilitators for a Youth and Kids Camp organized by our church. The event will be held from the 17th to 19th of May. I pray that we nail it perfectly well, so we could be able to give the participants a summer that’s divine and worth-remembering.

Anyhow, this is another graduation post but this time it’s about what I wore. I don’t know with the graduates from other UP system units, but UP Mindanao graduates are required to wear beige or cream dress and shoes for girls; and beige barong and black pants and shoes for boys. The reason for wearing neutral colored garments is to lay emphasis on the symbolic Sablay. We’re not allowed to wear any other ostentatious accessories other than the latter stated.

I selected this ruffled neck chiffon dress with pagoda sleeves because it looks vintage and feminine. My dress is already very detailed, that’s why I decided to pair it with this simple 3-inch beige shoes. The catch is, we also needed to put on stockings and I hated it because its silkiness gave me a tough time walking. I didn’t know how to deal with it with flair considering I don’t normally wear high heels. Luckily, things folded quite nicely that day.

I wore the bangle and the bag only before and after the ceremony; because like what I’ve said earlier, we had to highlight the Sablay all throughout the program. What I love about my bangle from SM Accessories are the faux gold and diamond embellishments. I’m just totally in love with anything shiny, shimmery and golden. I also got thrilled when I saw Karylle (A Filipino celebrity) wearing the same arm candy in red hue in one episode of It’s ShowTime.

I was so happy with everything that I donned that day; because apart from The Sablay, nobody sported the same dress, shoes and accessories as I did. Basically, what we had to pull off for our graduation outfit is the fashion statement called “Pop of Print” to accentuate the thing every UP student yearns for. So, that’s it for now. I guess this ends my series of graduation posts. Take note of the phrase “I guess”. Just kidding. ‘Til then! Much love!

Child’s Play: Color Blocking for Plenary

What I wore
Mini-Floral-Dress-Worn-As-Top: FOVL (Japanese brand)
Polo-Blouse-Worn-As-Blazer: Rosella (Japanese brand)
Skirt: Vintage
Dark Brown Boots: Janeo
Sleek Belt: SM Accessories
Earrings: Gift from Mom
Necklace: from England
Bangle: from England

Two days ago was our Thesis Plenary (final defense), and I’m just so glad and proud to say… I made it at last! We still have a few things to add for our final draft though, but what I’m sure of is that my sacrifice for this major subject is about to end soon. I’m ultimately stoked to don our school’s famous sablay for our much-awaited graduation come 18th of April. Now that it’s nearing the finish line (and it's only a month to go), it’s becoming even more nerve-wrecking! The anticipation is killing me!

Now on the glam side of this post, presentations at school has always been the BA Communication Arts students venue for dolling up. A fashion enthusiast like me would miss chances like this under no circumstance. Of course it’s uncommon for a shutterbug like me, to play dress up without photography. What good are lovely clothes when you don’t get to capture them? That’s just what I personally think. Maybe that might wrinkle your brows, but for me it’s something that I totally dig.

I always plan my outfits days ahead, and with that I mean I have a sort of “dress rehearsal” so that I won’t go panicking in front of my closet on the day itself. I chose to throw in some vivid hues for this get-up to uplift my mood, because I’ve been in some neutral colors like white, black, brown/beige lately. I also decided to wear my mini floral dress as a top, and my blue button-down top as a blazer. I tucked the dress in the skirt, put the blouse over it and cinched everything with the sleek belt.

I love that my printed top and bangle made it pop in my plain color-blocked ensemble. It’s like having two fashion fad in one – print popping and color blocking. How ‘bout that? I also love that the combination of this vibrant blue and yellow shades made a cheerful effect in my mood for this day. Blue is associated to the calm waters and yellow to the bright sunshine, so putting them together definitely helped me be in good spirits that lasted for the entire day, and hopefully for the whole week as well.

How could I not be in a pleasant disposition when I wore clothes that look so happy, and I got one of the best news in my college life? Color therapy and good news indeed have the power to make us feel so great about ourselves! Thank you so much dear God for the blessing! Now I’m off to write the abstract, acknowledgement  and biographical sketch to cap off my final thesis draft. I’m almost done! And oh please hype this look in Lookbook. ‘Til next time and have a good day, lovely dolls!

Child's Play: Flying with Colors

I like this pose. Thanks for suggesting me this, Ella. She's my new photo and fashion buddy.

I absolutely don't know how to pose.

Taking some shots at our Atrium.

Another Atrium shot.

At Kalimudan Student Center.

I love this as well. Thanks Tan-tan!

Displaying my goofiness at the CHSS Library.

My bangs suck.

I love this heart bracelet.

Ella and I wore the same shoe color. Watch out for my feature about her on Cosmopolite.

I was wearing...
H&M Striped Snoopy Dress
Vintage Cardigan
Advan Shoes
Basket Bag (from England)
Studs and Necklace (from England)
Thrifted Bracelet

I wore this vibrant outfit at school yesterday, because the sun was so high when I left home. I was hoping that the weather will be that pleasant up until the end of the day, but I was totally wrong! It rained cats and dogs the moment I stepped out of UP, which resulted to a mild flood en route home. It was so unfortunate of me. I couldn't be unhappier! Worse, I forgot to bring with me my umbrella. And my shoes.. I just washed it, but it got instant and full blast dirt because I didn't have any choice but to step on the filthy water. Disgusting, I know! It seems like I have to schedule washing my shoes in accordance to what those weather forecast journalists would say. Absurd. I was already soaking wet when I reached home. I got a free bath on the way. That's how my day went. I hope it won't happen again.

Child's Play: Simplicity

My Outfit

Snoopy Dress: H&M
Skin Tone Undergarment: No Brand
Peep Toe Flats: Parisian
Chained Bag: Insense (Vintage)
Leather Waisted Belt: From UK
Beaded Bangle: Tiangge (Cagayan de Oro)

This is my normal get-up whenever I feel like dressing up. A simple lady pulling off a simple style. I can imagine myself wearing this outfit during bonding moments with my girls, and even on a date with my man. I wouldn't want to wear this at school though. It gets windy there at times, and this dress gets blown that easily.

There's something summery about my dress, isn't it? It's maybe because of the multi-colored stripes. I think it can also be worn while having a walk along the seashore. Accented with big sunnies, straw hat and candy-colored sandals, I'm all set and ready to hit the road for a summer excursion. What about a vacation, Mom?

New Clothes for 2011

Yay! I just got a new Chiffon dress, and an Indian inspired long skirt. Would you believe that I got those two for only 270php? Yes, you read it right. What a catch! I bought them in a vintage store, not a tiangge. They still look unused though. I'm so lucky! Those kind of stores usually hide the items that are beautiful. Good thing, nobody saw them before I did.

I've always been wishing to have at least one of those two. Now, I'm waiting for my Mom's promise to come true -- a pair of detailed loafers from Chelsea! It will really match the new additions to my wardrobe. I can't wait to take a picture of me on it! I will blog about it for sure. Merry Christmas! God is so good. :-)

Desires of a Mystic Nymph (Wishlist)

How does it feel to have the time of your life by having everything your heart wants right before your very eyes? Let me guess. In my mind’s eye, the feeling would probably be that awesome that you won’t find the perfect words to define what you feel. Your emotions would possibly whirl like a hurricane. Nothing beats the sensation of turning your unrelenting yearnings into tangible sophistication. I can’t surely wait for the time when I can finally tell myself, “I got what I want, now I couldn’t ask for anything more!” But I know that it would be impossible. Humans have incorrigible longing for many things. I’ve already come to grips with that a long time ago. Of course we won’t delve on that matter. So before we go down deep, let me share you these things that are bugging me because I badly want them, and I still don’t have them.

First on the list is a Nikon or Canon DSLR Camera. I don’t mind which model as long as the quality is great especially for a beginner like me. I would raise my eyebrows if you say you don’t care about these thingamajigs. I mean, who wouldn’t want to have one? Yes, I know photography is getting really overrated with everyone wanting to document everything they do. People in this “state-of-the-art” generation venture into food photography (some call as foodnography), fashion photography and many other photography thingy that I don’t know how to label. This modern-day hobby is so classy that it pulls everyone who wants to revamp their civilized existence by learning it.

I want a Little Black Dress to hang in my closet. I think I have to erase the article “a” cause I honestly want an overwhelming number of elegant and chic LBDs. Just looking at them from afar seems as if I’m feasting my eyes on them. These are a girl must-have, and owning even one is enough. But of course, a fashion fiend like me doesn’t want to settle for just “enough” if not because of some monetary constraints. We’re not that wealthy and living high off the hog that’s why I still can’t afford to purchase many of those. If you want to perk yourself up with those stylish dresses, you have to invest a lot of money. We’re talking about fashionable dresses here, and they’re costly they can burn your wallet that instant. I actually don’t have an LBD. Criticisms are welcome. Kidding aside! Not having it makes me feel I’ve cramped my style. I just have a Little Pink Dress and Little Black-and-White Dress. What a bore!

For the year 2011 and beyond, I want my fancy for rubber shoes, doll shoes and sandals to tone down. I’d like to strut in modish comfort with loafers that have metallic particulars. I’m just so head-over-heels in love with detailed slip-ons. I crave for GEOX Breathes. According to its advertorial, it combines a micro perforated rubber sole and the breathable waterproof membrane. I know it is way too expensive, so I would be eager to buy any shoe that looks like it at a reasonable price. I also don’t mind wearing those trendy Oxford lace-up booties, platform heels and leather wedges only when I’m in the appropriate place or occasion.

I want some more additions to my casual wardrobe. I drool over Bow-neck tops, Chiffon tops and dresses, lace tops, Lumberjack flannel vests, zippered sweater dresses, Harem pants, black patent leather over-sized shoulder bags and classy scarves for layering. I want to look edgy with attires and accessories that are minimal but modern. I’d probably look prettier on those items. Don’t mind my over confidence (LOL)! Well, I hope Santa grants my wishes this season or maybe next year. I’ve listed a lot of things, but I’m pretty sure I still have all the time in the world to reward myself with all those delightful possessions. In God’s time!

Dresses

I'm longing to have a new dress. Dresses make us girls look more feminine. They infuse a kind of energy that works well for every lady in the universe. They make us look fragile which i could say is a positive aura. If I have the money, I would spend them all for dresses.
