Welcome Readers!

Welcome to the Mystic Blog of the only Mystic Nymph! I hope you have a blast reading my thoughts, and I hope you drop by again!

Marquee

I'll let you in a little revelation about my favorite usernames in my virtual sites. First is about my Mikimoto Angel pen name. Mikimoto is a famous brand of pearl accessories in America. I first saw that brand in Vogue Magazine. I got mesmerized by that label, and I thought of using it. I just added Angel from my name "Angela". Thus, the formation of Mikimoto Angel.

For my other pen name Mystic Nymph, the word mystic really came from the show Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog. I used to be so hooked to that show. I am also obsessed with mythologies, and nymphs are mythical creatures depicted as beautiful young women who are considered as guardians of objects and places in nature. Thus, the evolution of Mystic Nymph.

Happy Holidays!

Jumping on the bandwagon of taking a picture at SM Lanang Premiere's well-known 40-feet tall Christmas Tree.
I wore a vintage floral top, Jag jeans, G by Guess bag, Primadonna brogues.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, lovelies!
How's your celebration going? Have some innocent fun. Don't forget the essence of this season.
I apologize for the lack of updates for months. I've been really busy with our church activities and at work. I'll be back soon, my lovelies. Got a lot of stories to tell. Brain, I'm in dire need of my creative juices.
God bless you! ;-)

Mystique Shutterbug: My 22nd Birthday

I have returned, my lovelies! It was quite a long hiatus I should say. I was gone for almost a month, and it felt like forever. Now I'm still trying to refresh my mind from the blogger's block and stuff, so I hope you don't mind if this entry sounds so lame. I know I promised to get back right away; but some circumstances are really that irreconcilable, I couldn't even live up to what I said so. Anyhow, it was my 22nd birthday last Friday June 8 2012 but the celebration was held the next day at our church during the Music Team practice. To back up my words in this entry, here are the photos.

Me and my sisters Mikee, Janine and Miko.

DIG IN, my new friends in the LORD!

I felt so blessed with my 22nd year because I’m now serving my Father in Heaven again after such a long time of being just a simple church-goer. It’s a great feeling when you know you’re using everything you are for God’s cause. I also want to thank our Pastor and some of my church friends for serenading me first thing in the morning last Friday. It meant a lot to me! I totally felt so special. Lastly, I want to thank my family, especially to my Mama Bebet and Papa Bebot for preparing something delicious for my two-part birthday celebration. You are the sweetest! I couldn’t be more grateful to the Lord for giving me these wonderful people.

‘Til next time. Much Love! God bless everyone.

Child’s Play: Graduation Outfit

What I wore on Graduation Day:
Dress – Sabella RTW
Shoes – Mendrez
Bag – G by Guess
Bangle – SM Accessories
Earrings – Gift from Mom
Sablay (Sash) – Hablon

Everything that I wore that day (except for the bag) was Pinoy made -- from the dress, shoes, bangle and Sablay.

Here’s a quick post before I’ll have my hiatus again. It’ll just be a short-lived break anyway, since I’m going to be busy processing matters for my “job seeking escapade” this week. And oh, I will also be one of the facilitators for a Youth and Kids Camp organized by our church. The event will be held from the 17th to 19th of May. I pray that we nail it perfectly well, so we could be able to give the participants a summer that’s divine and worth-remembering.

Anyhow, this is another graduation post but this time it’s about what I wore. I don’t know with the graduates from other UP system units, but UP Mindanao graduates are required to wear beige or cream dress and shoes for girls; and beige barong and black pants and shoes for boys. The reason for wearing neutral colored garments is to lay emphasis on the symbolic Sablay. We’re not allowed to wear any other ostentatious accessories other than the latter stated.

I selected this ruffled neck chiffon dress with pagoda sleeves because it looks vintage and feminine. My dress is already very detailed, that’s why I decided to pair it with this simple 3-inch beige shoes. The catch is, we also needed to put on stockings and I hated it because its silkiness gave me a tough time walking. I didn’t know how to deal with it with flair considering I don’t normally wear high heels. Luckily, things folded quite nicely that day.

I wore the bangle and the bag only before and after the ceremony; because like what I’ve said earlier, we had to highlight the Sablay all throughout the program. What I love about my bangle from SM Accessories are the faux gold and diamond embellishments. I’m just totally in love with anything shiny, shimmery and golden. I also got thrilled when I saw Karylle (A Filipino celebrity) wearing the same arm candy in red hue in one episode of It’s ShowTime.

I was so happy with everything that I donned that day; because apart from The Sablay, nobody sported the same dress, shoes and accessories as I did. Basically, what we had to pull off for our graduation outfit is the fashion statement called “Pop of Print” to accentuate the thing every UP student yearns for. So, that’s it for now. I guess this ends my series of graduation posts. Take note of the phrase “I guess”. Just kidding. ‘Til then! Much love!

Hype this look in Lookbook.

One True Love

Before anything else, let me just say I had a hard time thinking of a good title for this post.I got tired of squeezing my brain for some creative juice, so I just settled for One True Love. It sounds too mushy and cliché, but hey, it’s love month; and love has always been both mushy and cliché. Pardon me for my defensiveness.

February 14, 2012 is a very special day for me, because it was the first time for me and my boyfriend Ciovic to be together on a Valentine's Day after four years and five months of being a couple. We didn’t have the chance to see each other in the past Heart’s Days because of some constraints like parental and academic stuff.

It was also my first time to receive a flower bouquet from him and from anyone, and it was really romantic. When we arrived at Zabadani Café, he asked if he could go out to buy something to chew while waiting for our order. When he came back, I got so surprised when he handed me the pink roses instead. I wasn’t expecting it!

The act may not be special for you anymore, but for me it is. It was like the memories of our courtship stage came flooding back in my mind. I almost cried for joy, but I controlled my kilig emotions because the coffee shop was jam-packed with customers that time. I couldn’t help but smile whenever I recall that very moment.

 Zabadani Café

Keepsakes (Matina Town Square)

What I Wore (Black & White w/ a Hint of Red)
Top – G.F. Fashion Collection
Inner Tank – New Look
Pants: Egoist
Bag: Secosana
Tassle Dangle: FashionConvict
Bangles: Thrifted
Belt: Thrifted
Rubber Shoes: Advan

We both ordered Kebabs at Zabadani Café. This is one of my favorite dishes there, but it didn’t suffice my hunger. We couldn’t order some more because there were a lot of people, and the owner was already so busy. We didn’t want to bother him anymore, so we just went to Matina Town Square’s Keepsakes for a rice meal.

We had Crispy Fried Chicken and Spicy Buffalo Wings at Keepsakes. I only like the first dish, because the latter is so awful. It’s just too sour and chilly I couldn’t handle it. I love the place because it’s private and for me, that meant I could take pictures anytime I want without worrying about what people might think about me.

What I like about Keepsakes is the interior design. I love the bright paint colors they used which actually made the place look like a huge toy house. The prices on their menu is also very student-friendly, since it’s located near Ateneo de Davao University (High School & Elementary) and University of Mindanao (College).

Enough said. Now, let me thank Ciovic for making this year’s Valentine so memorable for me. Thanks for the treat and of course, for the lovely flowers. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to save up for a gift for you. I will make it up to you soon, and that’s a promise I’m sure to keep. I love you so much, and you will be my man forever.

SVS: What's in for 2012?

TANGERINE TANGO
a spirited, reddish orange.

"Provocative Tangerine Tango, an enticing juicy orange, is a vivacious and appealing refresher to enliven anyone's outlook this spring." - Pantone

MIXING VINTAGE W/ MODERN

"The year marks the true start of a new decade, and yet 2012′s fashion trends are all about REVIVAL. True, there is a unique undertone of a modernist style appearing, but take some of the most iconic styles of the 20th century, infuse them with quality, and you’ll find the basis for the dominant styles of 2012." - FASHIONISING

MODERN GLADSTONE BAG
"The Gladstone bag, or doctor's bag, was once a workingman’s asset - but today has become a woman’s arm-luxury. Functional, elegant, and back in our sights for 2012, the Gladstone bag is an accessory worth investing in." - FASHIONISING

EXOTIC SKINS

"The very latest crop of exotic skin handbags come in a rainbow of hues. Bottega VenetaLoewe and Roberto Cavalli cater for those looking for classic investment pieces - ladylike totes and satchels in block colour neutrals, that will remain wardrobe favorites for seasons to come." - VOGUE UK

AN ARRAY OF REDS

"Lipstick’s most iconic color was reinvented this season, proving that there are endless ways to wear a dramatic red. With inspirations that ranged from pop art expressionisms at Jason Wu to art deco experimentation at Rick Owens to Betty Draper-style elegance at Dior, it’s a great time to go for rouge.

MODERN CAT EYES

"The familiar flick of liner returned to the outer corners of eyes but this time fashioned with inventive, even playful, variations (who says that up-tick has to be tapered? Why not apply two layers of liner instead of one?)."

POWER BROWS

Both striking and feminine at the same time, the look of bold brows dominated the runways, recalling sixties-era icons like Liz Taylor. The best examples are darkened with pigment, brushed up, and shaped with a dramatic, willful arch." - Harper's BAZAAR

CHEERFUL COLOR-BLOCKING

"Spring runways were more colorful than the crowd at a Lady Gaga concert. Bold, solid-color pieces—like a cardi and skirt, wrap dress or demure one-piece suit—make simple dressing look glam. Our style tip: Stick to three colors max to avoid the girly, Rainbow Brite look." - GLAMOUR

HIGH SHINE

"The no-fail trend when it comes to looking all glammed up for any occasion, high shine definitely puts the spotlight on you!" - STYLE Bible

CRAZY FOR PAISLEY

"THE Indian heritage print of swirling curling shapes finds new style currency this season." - VOGUE UK

PALE AND INTERESTING

"Steer clear of sickly-sweet shades and opt for icy alternatives, which offer a subtler pastel palette. " - VOGUE UK

TRACK AND FIELD

"With the London 2012 Olympics looming, there is a spirit of athleticism in the air and fashion is on a fitness streak." - VOGUE UK

PYJAMA PARTY

"Seductive, sensual and far too stylish to keep in the bedroom, pyjamas present an alluring new eveningwear option for spring." - VOGUE UK

THE MULLET

"A cross between the mini and the maxi, this hybrid shows just the right amount of leg and gives way to that fresh summer breeze!" - STYLE Bible

EARNED STRIPES

"Stripes somehow call to mind ideas of sailing and being by the sea. With visions of being beach bound for the summer months, striped maxi dresses and even skirts seem to make the perfect wardrobe."
