Welcome Readers!

Welcome to the Mystic Blog of the only Mystic Nymph! I hope you have a blast reading my thoughts, and I hope you drop by again!

Marquee

I'll let you in a little revelation about my favorite usernames in my virtual sites. First is about my Mikimoto Angel pen name. Mikimoto is a famous brand of pearl accessories in America. I first saw that brand in Vogue Magazine. I got mesmerized by that label, and I thought of using it. I just added Angel from my name "Angela". Thus, the formation of Mikimoto Angel.

For my other pen name Mystic Nymph, the word mystic really came from the show Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog. I used to be so hooked to that show. I am also obsessed with mythologies, and nymphs are mythical creatures depicted as beautiful young women who are considered as guardians of objects and places in nature. Thus, the evolution of Mystic Nymph.

day 28 – a song that makes you feel guilty

Fudge, this is difficult! I’ve been thinking of what to post for this task or days already, but still, nothing comes out of my head. I can’t think of a song that makes me feel guilty. I don’t know if I really have none, or I’m just in denial. I actually have one, but I don’t think it’s proper for me to broadcast the reason behind the guilt it makes me feel. There are just some things that are better left unsaid. I hope you understand.

Now let me just get that out of the way. I don’t want to force myself into doing something that gives me mental meandering and wasted time. I have too much things inside my head, and I don’t know how to compose myself anymore. I feel like drowning in my own thoughts. Guess what, I’m over thinking! On that note, let me pull myself out of those guilt and bewilderment by sharing this song that I'm listening now.

Can’t Take My Eyes off You – Muse

"Pardon the way that I stare.
There's nothing else to compare.
The sight of you makes me weak.
There are no words left to speak,
But if you feel like I feel,
Please let me know that it's real.
You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off you.

I love you, baby,
And if it's quite alright,
I need you, baby,
To warm the lonely nights.
I love you, baby.
Trust in me when I say:
Oh, pretty baby,
Don't bring me down, I pray.
Oh pretty baby,
Now that I found you, stay
And let me love you, baby.
Let me love you..."

day 27 – a song that you wish you could play

I’m a huge music buff, but I don’t know how to play any instrument at all. That pushed me to skip day 26. I can only play the DoReMi song for honesty’s sake which is quite embarrassing to confess. Why would I write about it if I still suck at it, right? Darn! So instead of mooning over my lack of musical prowess, let me just jump to the 27th task and talk about the song that I wish I could play.

I’ve always wanted to play the piano ever since I was a kid. I used to get mesmerized every time I see a real piano. I guess all of us have felt that way before. It was like being in my fantasy land the first time I saw a piano being displayed at my aunt’s house. I only got to see one in fairy tales, and the moment I saw it as big as life I couldn’t help but touch it and make it sound.

I’m impressed with people who can play even basic piano pieces. You see, I don’t have the right to question their ability because I can’t ever be like them no matter how hard I try. I can never learn how to play it because I already have other priorities, and my hands are not that flexible anymore. How I wish I’m the copycat girl from Heroes so I can absorb others’ capacities just by looking at them.

Despite my rock music preference and that disappointment I just spilled, I still arm myself with classical piano pieces every once in a while. That is to forgo academic and social pressures bugging me. Those tunes relax my nerves and lighten my mind. I actually plan of downloading some albums from Beethoven, Mozart and other classical artists. I can’t wait to pamper my soul with such decent music.

Anyway, here’s one of the piano pieces I really wish I could play, but I couldn’t. My sister who used to be a big Twilight fanatic told me this song was Edward Cullen’s favorite. I didn’t know that, huh. Thanks for that trivia sissy!

Mystique Shutterbug: Lunch @ Zab

It's been awhile since I've last posted something for this photo blog series. I ran out of photos to share, and I'm having some issues with myself. Yeah, what a segue! My sister Janine, Ciovic and I just had our food trip at my favorite Mindanao Syrian restaurant, Zabadani Cafe. What I love about my dining experience at this food spot is that, I always get to try something new from them. They're serving free iced tea now, and their Ayran is on Buy 1 Take 1 until May. I'm also glad that Mr. Wadi knows my name now. I'm flattered! Anyway, here are our photos.

What I wore:

Dorothy Perkins Top
Jag Pants
Parisian Peep Toe Flats
Versace Sling Bag
Beaded Bangle from CDO
Studs & Necklace from Tesco UK

We ordered Chicken Kabsa, Syrian Grilled Breast, Pita Shateerah and Ayran. I hope to try their beef and fish kebabs next time around. And oh, it was such an honor to have a picture taken with the famous ZABADANIan Persian cat. LOL! Its pictures are everywhere to find in Facebook. It's becoming like a celebrity now. Check out its Facebook page -- Ramadeey min Zabadani Cafe.

Once a shutterbug, always a shutterbug.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy mothers’ day to all the mothers in the world, especially to my Mama Emilie! Thank you for accepting me despite the problems I’ve brought into our home. Thank you for leading me to the right path. I’m really sorry for being such a black sheep. Sorry for all the pain that I’ve caused you. Mama, I want you to know that I understand you now more than ever. I love you so much, Mom. I hope to bond with you soon.

day 25 – a song that makes you laugh

Original in Spanish

Donde, está, la biblioteca. Me llamo T-Bone La araña discoteca.

Yea boi. Boi. Yea. What. It’s 2009. Word.

English Translation

Where is the library? My name is T-Bone the disco spider. Disco, doll, the library is in the big mustache, dog, lard. Lard mustache, huge, little, head is snow, beer is good. Good day, I like cold potatoes, the goat’s mustache is Cameron Diaz!

Yea boi. Boi. Yea. What. It’s 2009. Word.

I really find this Spanish rap song by Troy and Abed of NBC’s Community very hilarious. Notice the lyrics – it’s nonsense, right? That makes the song funny. I’m also having LSS over this. Thanks to my sister who always sings this at home. Troy and Abed, for the win! Yeah boy! Darn, I’m still on the 9th episode of its first season. Poor me! I should finish it before the class starts. NBC’s serial saga Heroes got me busy on the tube these days.

day 24 – a song that you want to play at your funeral

Death comes like a thief in the night. It’s not something that we have to look forward to, because it just comes like a surprise. It’s so dreadful just thinking about it, let alone blogging about it. But I know that no matter how much we fear death, it’s still going to happen to all of us. We should somehow be prepared when it comes knocking at our door.

I am not afraid to die; it’s just that I’m not ready for it yet. I would love to be in that place of everlasting bliss. I have a lot to ask God. I want to know him personally. Death for me is not the total end. For me, it’s the beginning of another life somewhere. Okay, let me not delve deep into that. Let’s talk about the 24th task of this challenge instead.

I don’t want a song that is too conventional for my funeral. Those tunes that are somewhat “registered songs for death” should vanish and crap out. You know that song that goes something like, “It’s not how long we held each other’s hands…blah…blah…blah…”? That song totally gets into my nerves.

To those people who love me, don’t forget to play this piano piece by Jim Cipaldi. It’s called Goodbye. Here’s the song.

day 23 – a song that you want to play at your wedding

I got into my mother’s bad books the last time I blogged about wedding. Upon reading it, she thought I was too young to talk about that kind of mature stuff. I completely understand her, because I was just 18 then. I still had my year-old relationship tucked away from her that time. But now, I’m going to share my thoughts about it one more time; not because I feel like it’s the right time to discuss it again, but because I have to comply with the 23rd task for the 30 Day Song Challenge.

I’m woman, and I believe it’s just but normal for me to imagine my dream wedding, and all that jazz. As Mitch Albom says it, it’s amazing the fantasies our mind can put together. So with that, le me bring out my flight of fancy first. I dream of having a myth-inspired wedding at the age of 26 or 27. I want to celebrate my big day in a place where I can see and feel the nature, probably in a garden. I want the breeze to blow my hair naturally while I walk down the aisle. Oh geez, I’m blushing!

Of course, a lovely exchange of I Do’s wouldn’t be complete without songs that will make my most significant romantic event even more memorable. These two that I’ll be dishing out is not yet final though. Who knows, I may sing a different tune when the right time comes, which I think is not yet soon. I don’t want those traditional love songs at my wedding. 98 Degrees’ I Do and Jim Brickman’s Destiny are just so overused. They should be kept under wraps from now on.

Without much fuss, I’m sharing you these two songs that make me fall deeply in love – Inevitable by Anberlin and At Last by Kevin Michael.

Inevitable by Anberlin

"Do you remember when we were just kids,
and cardboard boxes took us miles from what we would miss?
School yard conversations taken to heart,
and laughter took the place of everything we knew we were not.

I want to break every clock.
the hands of time could never move again.
We could stay in this moment for the rest of our lives.
Is it over now hey, hey is it over now?
I want to be your last first kiss
that you'll ever have.

I want to be your last first kiss..."

At Last by Kevin Michael

"At last my love has come along My lonely days are over And life is like a song At last the skies above are blue And my heart was wrapped up in clover The night I looked at you I found a dream that I can speak to A dream that I could call my own I found a thrill to press my cheek to A thrill that I have never known You smiled, and then the spell was cast And here we are in heaven And you are mine at last..."
