I'll let you in a little revelation about my favorite usernames in my virtual sites. First is about my Mikimoto Angel pen name. Mikimoto is a famous brand of pearl accessories in America. I first saw that brand in Vogue Magazine. I got mesmerized by that label, and I thought of using it. I just added Angel from my name "Angela". Thus, the formation of Mikimoto Angel.

For my other pen name Mystic Nymph, the word mystic really came from the show Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog. I used to be so hooked to that show. I am also obsessed with mythologies, and nymphs are mythical creatures depicted as beautiful young women who are considered as guardians of objects and places in nature. Thus, the evolution of Mystic Nymph.

The Philippine National Hero at 150

Why Should We Study Jose Rizal’s Life and Works?

Why not? That’s my counter question to the query. The life and works of Dr. Jose P. Rizal is a big part of our history here in the Philippines. He has a great contribution to our country’s literature, and most especially to our freedom. He opened our fellowmen’s heart and mind against the evil deeds of the wicked colonizers. He was one of the patriots who didn’t show fear in denouncing Spanish rule. His love for our homeland is just one-of-a-kind. I guess no other man would ever be like him.

For me, Jose Rizal truly deserves to be our national hero because he’s very different from all other heroes we have. He was strong-willed but, at the same time, passive. He’s not like Andres Bonifacio who was too aggressive in revolting. Rizal, on the other hand, acts in a more organized and rational manner. He fought for our country’s equal rights without thinking of gaining sole power in return. With that, I salute him with all my heart. No one else comes close to his excellent efforts in dignifying our entire nation!

Happy 150th birthday, Dr. Jose Rizal!
