I'll let you in a little revelation about my favorite usernames in my virtual sites. First is about my Mikimoto Angel pen name. Mikimoto is a famous brand of pearl accessories in America. I first saw that brand in Vogue Magazine. I got mesmerized by that label, and I thought of using it. I just added Angel from my name "Angela". Thus, the formation of Mikimoto Angel.

For my other pen name Mystic Nymph, the word mystic really came from the show Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog. I used to be so hooked to that show. I am also obsessed with mythologies, and nymphs are mythical creatures depicted as beautiful young women who are considered as guardians of objects and places in nature. Thus, the evolution of Mystic Nymph.

Archaic Photographs

We had an assignment a few weeks ago for our New Media class. The task is to bring at least ten baby pictures, and then make a story out of it. Here's a part of what I wrote:

"Childhood has never been fun for me. As a child, I was a silent and a shy type. I never had my own circle of friends. I didn’t know if they don’t like me or it’s just me who didn’t want to mingle with them. Unlike any other kid, friendship for me was unimportant. For me it was something I could live without. Really, I was that weird before.

Growing up at home was difficult for me. It feels as if I was too contained within the four walls of our house. We weren't allowed to go out from the borders of our lot, because we might get into a fight or an accident. I didn’t have any friends from the neighborhood. I grew accustomed being a home body. I guess it will never be removed from me anymore. That was why the only hobby I had as a child was drawing and nothing else."

Anyway, let's talk about my baby pictures again. Old photos really are fascinating, right? I love looking at my innocent self, when all I wanted are pencils and drawing papers. Because I got so ecstatic realizing how cute I was before (LOL), I decided to take some shots of those pictures, and I'm going to share them to you. We don't have a scanner, so I just used Mom's lowly VGA phone camera instead.

I learned to love bags even before.

Smile like you're not going to grow up.

I was a fashion victim!

My Mom made that stuffed toys.

With sisters Janine (left) and Miko (right).

I wonder how Mom made me smile.

I can't remember how old I was here.

I can't believe I smiled like that before.

Poor Janine.

I look like I was floating here.

Do you think I'm cute? I'll be posting my sample drawings soon, since I've been mentioning about it twice already. I think it's high time to show you what I got. Watch out for it, fellas!

How do you look like when you were a child?

so sorry if we made your childhood difficult. if you only knew how i wished that i was just home to take care and watch over you and your siblings the whole day. i remembered when we rushed to put up the front fence because you were nearly hit by a passing shuttle bus and i also remembered when you and your sisters were left playing outside the house, when suddenly the next house was raided by armed men because a group of notorious people lived there. we were so terrified we were on those incidents.
On not having friends in the neighborhood, it was your choice to stay inside the house during weekends when we were there to see your siblings play with the our neighbors. But what can we do, all we wanted is your safety because we love you so much.

awww... so cute. it really is just so nice to have childhood pictures.

I can pretty much understand your parents. Not because I am one, but because I have an over-protective Dad. My Dad is so strict when it comes to going out at night. I don't have a night life. If ever I get to go out, my Dad is very much waiting for me... so he could pick me up. Lol. I still do live by his standards, even when I'm now 23... Pretty much accepted that he's so paranoid that something bad might happen anytime... But I have to obey because I'm still pretty much dependent. Someday, he'll trust me that I can do things on my own and I can take care of myself well. I'm thankful though that my parents are somewhat controlling when it comes to going out at night... I might not be who I am now if it wasn't for them. :)

My parents now are not that strict anymore unlike before. Maybe my parents and I are just not that open with each other's thoughts that's why we tend to misunderstand each other sometimes. :-(
