Welcome Readers!

Welcome to the Mystic Blog of the only Mystic Nymph! I hope you have a blast reading my thoughts, and I hope you drop by again!

Marquee

I'll let you in a little revelation about my favorite usernames in my virtual sites. First is about my Mikimoto Angel pen name. Mikimoto is a famous brand of pearl accessories in America. I first saw that brand in Vogue Magazine. I got mesmerized by that label, and I thought of using it. I just added Angel from my name "Angela". Thus, the formation of Mikimoto Angel.

For my other pen name Mystic Nymph, the word mystic really came from the show Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog. I used to be so hooked to that show. I am also obsessed with mythologies, and nymphs are mythical creatures depicted as beautiful young women who are considered as guardians of objects and places in nature. Thus, the evolution of Mystic Nymph.

Mystique Shutterbug: FACES

At Bro's Brew.

At Pancake House Abreeza Branch.

At M-Rose Restobar.

Wearing my Anchor Blue paisley top.

At Ate Jael's Appartment.

At Kalimudan Student Center.

At our school's photography exhibit.

Aside from those absurd photos of me, I'll also be dishing out some random thoughts. My mind's still not in order, so pardon me for my "randomness". Here are the things that's on my mind as of the moment:

It's Pretty Little Liars Halloween Episode today. I wanna watch! I've seen their outfits, and I love that of Alison, Emily and Spencer. Who would you want to dress like?

I'm currently downloading the first & second episode of Zooey Deschanel's New Girl. I wanna give it a try. My boyfriend says it's a fun series.

I want to collect a lot of plume and peacock feather dangles. I'll be spoiling myself with those eye candies this holiday when I have money.

I hate my inferiority complex. It's one of the things that make my life a little too difficult to deal with. I hope I could gain confidence.

If I feel that I've given too much of my attention to something or someone, that's the time when I think I have to lie low. Like, bye for now.

I've been keeping my hair the same way, and it's weighing me down. So, I thought of considering a new 'do. What style can you suggest girls?

I'm so happy that I'm now almost free from all those academic pressures. All I have to think about is my THESIS! I hope it gets approved.

It seems like our fridge never cease to have cakes. I can't wait for Mom to get into pastry biz, because her creations just keep getting better. Avail of it, yes?

I've been having music binge to suit myself after the hell-ish semester I got, and some of the songs I've been listening to the most are the following...

Flaunt It - Girls Love Shoes
Try - Zach Berkman
Hi, Hi, Hi - Shelly Fraley
3 Libras - A Perfect Circle
Let Me In - Evolove
Turn Our Eyes Away - Trent Dabbs
Are You On Your Way Out? - Middle Class Rut
Hawk Eyes - The Kicks
Closer - Jaylene Johnson
Amazed - MoZella

I'll be saving some songs for my Sonic Boom music blog series. Mozella's Amazed and Can't Stop really make me feel so dreamy and mushy, like I'm in a beautiful place with the man I'm going to marry. These songs are just so romantic. Listen to it and be... amazed!

Accessories. Blings. Trinkets.

Based on the VAGUE title, what do you think this entry will be about? Kidding aside. This post will pay tribute to the new additions in my wardrobe. I have to say that I am already beginning to be deeply enamored by accessories, and I’m glad to tell you that my collection is slowly growing bigger. Yey for that! I simply can’t help but be captivated by those fine-looking pieces that can certainly give an edge or accent to any ensemble.

I won’t cease from hoarding those gorgeous blings until I get satisfied with what I have which is quite impossible, in human nature. I have been raving about anything with feathers lately. I realized that they really have this stunning feminine vibe. And again, Laureen Uy is my influence when it comes to that stuff. Here are the new fashion finds I got, and I tell you, they have very reasonable prices. Totally perfect for budgetarians!

I will do my best to get those colorful and fascinating must-haves from Extreme Finds! I badly want to rock my outfit with those irresistible eye candies. I’ve talked about them a lot here in my blog, and I still don’t have any of their items. They’re a bit pricey, so I guess it’s high time for me to SAVE, SAVE and SAVE! I said the word three times in all caps and bold font for emphasis.

Just as I was browsing Laureen’s blog, I found another Filipino online shop that offers chic yet very affordable fashion jewelry. And hey, they ship internationally! Prices range from as low as Php70 to Php350. It’s not bad, is it? Another fabulous haven for all the ladies out there! Do check out Mia Casa on Multiply for details.

Abstract Maranao Okir Art

I have been so stressed for the past weeks’ academic binge. I lacked some shut eye, which resulted to constant headaches. And now that school’s over, I’m slowly getting back what I had deprived myself of – slumber… and of course, blogging. Teehee. I’m still not supposed to do this, but I really feel the need to take some time off. After the scholastic breakdown I had last week, I imposed myself an unwritten rule that I shouldn’t blog until such time that my thesis is far from over. I honestly feel that I’m nearly done, so let me take a breather just this once.

Enough said.

I got to let out my artistic side again because of our Filipino 21 (Philippine Folklore) subject. We were asked to create something that can popularize our country’s ethnic art as our final project. I chose the Maranao Okir Art, because it’s very popular. This art is known for its exuberance and vitality. It also crosses different forms. The Maranao is one of the thirteen tribes of Muslim in the Philippines. It is the subject of researchers’ interest most of the time, thus making them the most studied tribe in the country. As far as I know, it is the most extravagant Muslim tribe.

Since I have been suffering from cognitive overload lately, I couldn’t think of an original okir art. I apologize, because I just copied what I found in the web. I only used pastel crayons and illustration board. No pun intended. I just didn’t have enough resources and time to exert my utmost effort in crafting my own design. If given another chance, I will definitely do my best to show you my own interpretation of the said art. Spoken like a real beauty queen, eh? Anyhow, below is an abstract okir art made by a student from Mindanao State University (MSU).

The Original from (Al-Nezzar Ali’s blog). Not intended for copyright infringement.

2

The nasty version. Not intended for plagiarism.

3

Yours truly. The fake artist holding her ugly work of art. I hope you like it somehow.
LOL for the hoping soul here! Piece based on Pinta Okir Group‘s (MSU Gensan) piece for the
Okil in Abstraction Workshop.

Sonic Boom: Rainy Monday

Between Us - Peter Bradley Adams

Hey stranger when may i call you my own?
I know i don't know you, but there's somewhere I've seen you
before.
Whatever your name is, whatever you do
there's nothing between us I'm willing to loose

Just call me if ever our paths may collide.
I want you to call me under these darkening skies.
whoever you love, whoever you kiss
the ones in between us I'm willing to miss

now I'm drifting out over deep oceans
and the tide won't take me back in
and these desperate nights I'll call you again and again

More of You - Mozella

So it goes without saying, that I'm hooked on you,

And by now I'm out of mind with this self-abuse,
I guess I should have looked out for myself,
I guess that I could have found someone else,
But I never met anyone, who's loving made me so damn crazy,

Everything little thing that you do,
Every single word you say,
Every time you’re looking away,
you got begging for more of you, more of you,
Everytime I'm ready to go,
Everytime I think I'm back in control,
Something gets my heart and my soul
and I'll be begging for more of you, more of you.

Please Don't Leave Quite Yet - Adam Agin

Underneath my bed there’s a raincoatPacked with scarfs and books Just go look
But don’t let the storm slow you down
No honey, don’t let the storm slow us down

The sound the furnish makes irritates you
I promise by next spring we’ll replace it
But dont let the wind run you out
No honey, dont let the wind run us down
It’ll run us down
I want it to get better I swear
I’ll work to make it better
So please don’t leave quite yet
Please don’t leave quite yet
Please don’t leave quite yet.
Don’t Leave Don’t Leave.

It's raining at this very moment in Davao City, and I'm listening to these lovely songs. I'm glad to say that I just had my last exam today. I hope I passed all my subjects, so that all I have to think about is my thesis. I had a bad plenary experience last week. Good thing my panelists and adviser gave me a chance to graduate this semester if I comply with my incomplete research output by November 5. That would be next month. Anyway, I hope you like the songs I've shared today. This is something very short again. I hope to be back on track with my oozing blogging juices by mid-November.

Sonic Boom: Katie Herzig

Jack and Jill

She wore that dress like it was a Saturday
Pretty as a summer rose picked in the morning
And he held her hand like it was a mystery
One he couldn't quite believe
Just walking with him
They were high up on a hill
Something to say, and daylight to kill
Time slipped away, the way that it will

Hey Na Na

Hey nana hey nana
Hey nana hey nana
Hey nana hey nana
Hey nana hey hey

You eyes are like a blue sky, blue sky, blue
You're floating in the fountain, in the fountain of youth
I bet you have an ocean, secret little potion
I bet you have a lover who's as fine as you

Hey Mr. Love, Mr. Big Love, Love

Crazy

What have they done to the birds and the bees?
Cradle was dropped, the nest make believe
And they're selling their souls for the purpose of losing it all.

What have they done to the cracks in the walls?
The world has been painted to cover it all
And everyone's afraid to admit that they're getting old.

These adorable songs from Katie Herzig have been constantly played on top volume in my playlist. She's my new favorite female artist alongside Brooke Waggoner.

What new tunes would you like to share, folks?

SVS: Ezra Fitz and Aria Montgomery

12345678

This is one of the cutest scenes from Pretty Little Liars Season 1 Episode 15: If at First You Don’t Succeed, Lie Lie Again. This was when Aria went to Mr. Fitz’s room and flirtatiously convinces him to accompany her to the BASIA Art opening. While Aria was showing her “work” to her big love, Katie Herzig’s Hey Na Na was being played in the background. I wish I can be that sweet to my man!

And by the way, please pray for me because today is my Thesis Plenary. It’s sort of a second defense for my research's Results and Discussion. I hope I can finally graduate this October! May God bless me. I can't wait to finally write lengthier and more substantial posts after this week!

Gastronomy: This Week's Food Trip

Mama Bet's Oreo Truffles. I felt weak in the knees after tasting this!

Mama Bet's Chocolate Layer Cake. I swear this is so delectable!

Afghan Gosh Feel

Afghan Salata

Afghan Mourg -- Grilled Chicken marinated in Yogurt.

Avocado Crazy. Sri Lankan Meal.

Kazakhstan's Kespea. Spicy Beef Noodles!
Israel's Holishkes. It has meat and rice rolled in a cabbage. It's like pastil.

Israel's Hamentaschen. Prune cookies.

Pita and Chickpeas Hummus.

Believe it or not, those Asian cuisines were cooked by my schoolmates for their Asia and the World class. That's how they spell hardwork and diligence. I have to say they did a job well done! They deserve to get a high grade for their collective effort in presenting what they have prepared for their Asian Festival final project. I wasn't able to take the photos of all the participants' dishes because people were all over them already. I love Iraq's Qatayef, Cambodia's fudge something and Sri Lanka's spicy beef curry. I couldn't get enough of them!

I'm talking about how great they are with full conviction because my sister Janine is part of it. She's with the Afghanistan group. I heard Kazakhstan group won though. They did a wonderful cultural dance anyway. I just hated the sound system. It was awful! We weren't able to enjoy all the country's music that much. Anyway, do you wanna see how she looked like that day? Here it is.

My sister. My friend, Jael, did her make up. Isn't she lovely?
